Jesse's P.O.V
Today was Beca's birthday and I was questioning whether I should text her a Happy Birthday message. I have Benji by my side bugging me and bugging me to wish her a Happy Birthday. I, on the other hand, don't know if I should because if I do, then there are so many scenarios on what can happen. For example, she can just read my text and not answer, which will make my heart shatter into a million pieces because trust me, she's already done that. Or she can just read my message and not reply to me and just talk shit about me to Emily and all her other aca-friends. I really don't have time to tell you each and every one of the worst scenarios I have in mind, but I'm sure you can picture some in your head.
"Jesse, just wish her a Happy Birthday! You never know what might happen!"
"Exactly, that's what I'm afraid of! What if she doesn't answer my text? What if she ignores me? What if she blocks me? What if-"
"Jesse, stop with the what if's! You're overthinking this situation way too much! Just take a risk! I would if I were you."
"No! I'm too scared."
"Just fucking tell her. Right now. This is your sign. You need to tell her what you have to say."
"Look, I know for a fact that if it were my birthday, she wouldn't text me or call me to wish me a Happy Birthday. Put yourself in her shoes. Do you think she would?"
Benji looked down at his feet and I could tell that he felt ashamed. He looked up at me and sighed.
"You're right. She wouldn't. I don't know what I was thinking. I just want you two to get back together. You guys were the real OTP."
I sighed.
"Yeah, I know. Now, we can't even look at each other. Looks like we're really over, for real this time."
"That is so depressing," Said Benji.
