I look into the mirror. "Are you sure it's ok?" I ask Jade.
"You look beautiful." She replies. "And don't be so nervous."
We hear the doorbell ring and we walk downstairs. James is waiting in the living room, with Rich.
"You look really pretty." He says.
I smile. "Thanks."
Once we're in the car, he plays music and we ride in silence.
"I'm sorry for not keeping touch the past week." He finally says as we pull in the parking lot.
"It's okay." I say, not really sure if it really was okay.
Inside the restaurant, we talk like nothing happened. And I wish it could be like this forever. When the food arrives, we pray then eat in comfortable silence.
"One more stop." He says as we get up and thank the waitress.
I follow him out the door and into the car. After a few minutes, we've reached a secluded place. A field.
"Are we allowed to be here?" I ask.
He chuckles. "Yes."
He helps me out and leads me to a spot in the middle of the field. The stars have come out and I look over at him.
He's lying on a picnic blanket. "Wanna join me? Let's watch the stars."
I laugh and join him. We stargaze and talk about the most random things. It's times like this when I forget about all the miserable things that happened.
Thank You Lord. I silently pray.
Every Saturday, for the rest of the month, James takes me out on a date to somewhere new. I feel really blessed knowing that everything is going well. I babysit, go on dates, do my schoolwork, spend time with family on Sundays and most importantly go to church and spend time with God.
Seems like though life may get miserable at times, God is still good and will make things beautiful in His time.
On the Saturday before Thanksgiving week, James takes me to the beach.
"I can't believe you seriously put all this effort for me." I say through closed eyes. "What did I do to deserve this?"
He laughs. "Are you serious? This isn't much. And you being you deserves a lot."
I smile at that. "Can I open my eyes now?"
"Yes."
I open eyes to see a beautiful set up. Two pillow cushions are placed on a blanket on the sand with a little tray table in the middle. I look at the food prepared and my heart melts.
"Pizza. You can't get more romantic than that." I say with a bright smile.
We eat the delicious pizza and talk about what to do over Thanksgiving break.
His phone rings in the middle of our conversation.
"I'm on a date."
I listen closely while eating.
"No, I don't have time to see you and I told you-"
He stops talking and he raises his eyebrows in interest.
I look at him, confused. He doesn't acknowledge me though.
"I'd love that." He finally says with a cocky smile.
I cross my arms and wait. He puts down the phone and looks at me.
"Sorry. It was just some business thing."
