KATIE’S POINT OF VIEW
George looked so gaunt and down, that I couldn’t help but smile when I announced the news.
‘I want to work here. That is, I want to replace Fred in your shop.’
George looked like I’d gone berserk.
‘You- Want- A- Job- Here???’ He emphasised every syllable.
‘Uh..yeah.’
‘Are you sure you’ll be able to handle everything? Considering that you’re playing for the Holyhead Harpies half the time?’ George raised a quizzical eyebrow.
‘I think so.’ I replied slowly.
‘By “I think so”, do you mean that you will be able to keep track of all the stock, find new products, tidy every single inch of the shop, take time to set up each product in the store and not make ONE mistake??’
‘Aw, c’mon, George. Give her a chance.’ Lee put in.
‘Huh, fine.’ George sniffed. ‘But you’ve got to work as hard as Fred did.’
‘Fine.’ I retorted.
Life with George suddenly seemed like the worst possible scenario.
