Chapter 1:
“I'm going to the cafe!” I yelled from the front door back to mom and dad, “I'll be home at 11!”
Without waiting for a response, I shuffled out of the house, closing the door behind me. Shoving my hands into the pockets of my jacket, I headed out into the chilly mid November evening. It was just starting to get dark so I quickened my pace.
The cafe was only about a ten minute walk from my house so it didn't take long till I arrived. The bell hanging above the door dinged as I opened it, announcing my arrival.
Looking around, I spotted my group of friends sitting in our usual booth. With a smile, I headed over.
“Hey guys,” I grinned, sliding into the booth beside my best of all friends, Lexi.
She turned and gave me her award winning smile.
“Hey Isabella!” They all said in unison.
I looked around at my group of friends and smiled at our mismatch. Let's see, there was Andrea, who had perfect light brown hair and beautiful hazel eyes, she was the smart, realistic one of our group. Then there was Jesse, dark brown hair and light green eyes. He was the flirt, with a dazzling smirk that made girls sigh. Matt, with his light blond hair and dark blue eye that girls swooned over. He was the athletic one. Then Lexi, straight blonde hair, kind brown eyes. She was the artsy one.
Then that left me. I wasn't quite sure what my specialty in the group one, being the odd one out with unruly auburn curls and weird silvery blue eyes. Everyone always commented on how beautiful and unique my eyes were, but I just found the as another thing to mark me as 'different'.
But I guess thats just how our group fit together. We have all been friends since preschool. All of us different and unique. I don't know how we managed to stick together this long.
A second later, a young waitress with dirty blonde hair cut in a bob came over.
“Hello, can I take your orders?” She spoke as if speaking to all of us, but her eyes were fixed on Jesse.
Jesse offered her one of his dazzling smiles, “Yes, I will take a latte supreme and your number.” he said with a wink.
The waitress giggled and we all rolled our eye. Same old Jesse.
“Excuse me Jesse, but could you hold on your flirting for a moment so the rest of us can order?” Andrea asked with a quirk of her eyebrow.
The waitress blushed but Jesse just smiled and gestured for the rest of us to order.
“I'll be right back with your orders in a moment,” She said after writing down our orders.
“I'll be waiting,” Jesse called out as she turned away.
