Hey everyone! This is my first book that I have written but please give it a go. I welcome constructive criticism, comments and votes.
Hope you enjoy....Click. I put the phone down into place and took a deep breath in. I heard, behind me, the door open and close as someone walked in but I made no move to turn around.
Placing my head in my hands I muttered, "The arrangements have been made. We'll be moving tomorrow."
I felt the sofa dip beside me and a warm comforting arm placed around me.
I leaned my head on his shoulder and sighed, "I love you Felix"
"Yeah, well, of course you do. I am your best friend after all" he said squeezing me gently against him.
I smiled lightly. He always had the ability to make me smile. He stood up after a few moments, "I'll gather everyone in the garden for you shall I?"
"Yeah, I suppose that would be a good idea. They need to know" I said quietly.
"Everything will be fine Lexi. It will all work out just fine" Felix bent down and kiseed my cheek before leaving the room. I stood up as the door closed behind him and began to pace the room nervously.
After a few moments Felix reappeared and held his hand out to me. I took it gratefully and he lead me out of the room and out to the garden. The fifty or so members left from my pack were gathered outside and as I was led by Felix to the top of the garden they all bowed their heads. Felix nodded at me indicating me to start talking and he let go of my hand. I quickly grabbed it again because to be honest it was the only thing that was keeping me breathing.
"Well...erm...", I started, "As you..erm...all know recent...events....have resulted in our numbers being decreased. We no longer are what we were and I'm afraid if the past does replay we have no chance. Most of the members of this pack that are left are women and children so I'm afraid to say that it is very unlikely we will survive-"
I was cut off by a middle aged woman carrying a child in her arms. She looked frighteningly weak and I recognised her as one of the many women who had lost their mates.
"So what are we to do Luna? If they strike again what on earth are we to do?" she questioned.
Many people nodded around her. They were all obviously thinking the same thing. Felix squeezed my hand encouraging me to go on.
" Well....decisions have been made. We only have one solution left. As many of you remember this pack house wasn't always our home. Five years ago we were joined to another pack....The Eclipse. We split from them due to the growth of both ours and theirs' pack. However, as you can see we are not what we were. Alpha John from Eclipse who generously helped our pack at war has now invited us to join his pack. For the safety of our pack I have agreed and the decision has been made. We will be moving tomorrow morning".
I waited for their response but everyone was quiet. Then another woman held up her hand to speak,
"Will you still be our Luna?"
I took in a deep breath, "I have no idea"
Everyone began to murmur amongst themselves. Felix stood forward, "Right, the Luna has informed you of the changes being made to our pack and I would just like to say it's going to happen whether you like it or not. We will be leaving in the morning so I suggest you pack tonight. We will be travelling all day tomorrow and yes I know Eclipse pack is not that far from us but we will be travelling much slower than we usually would for safety reasons. Remember they may strike at any time and joining to Eclipse is one step forward in preparing ourselves. You are dismissed"
