Hello people! Just to not get you confused. The picture above does NOT mean that the season is winter in the book. Just simply concentrate on the dog, nothing else matter. Just the dog.

Laura's POV

The way back home wasn't pleasing. How could it be? Everyone was quiet and the attempt of making conversation were turned down.

We had left my mother behind, she was no longer parts of our lives, all she was were memories. Memories when we laughed and we could no longer breath, memories when we cried and hugged each other for comfort. It was all in my mind now. We had left as soon as we buried her.

The boy we had captured was slowing us down. The sun hanged in the sky hiding between the trees, threatening darkness was catching up to us. that's when the boy complained. "I'm hungry."

From that single statement I gathered a lot from that boy. I assumed our silence wasn't his cue that it was a bad time for us, he did not care we were screaming in silence due to his people and all the horrendous things they had done. All he cared about was his stupid appetite and nothing else.

We all turned to look at him. Although his torso along with his arms were tied up to a chain, he managed to have the face of a jerk.

"You don't get to be hungry," Lucas replied. "now keep moving." He gripped the chain harder and pushed the boy forcing him to walk, but the boy refused to walk. He refused so much that he had the capability of committing the shameless act of sitting down.

The boy planted his butt on the ground making him almost impossible to move. No matter how hard my brother pulled the boy wouldn't budge. "I am not moving from here until I get some food."

His demand was clear.

"I'm also hungry, perhaps we could hunt something small like a rabbit, grace is really good at that." Jeffrey offered.

"We are not stopping, It is almost dark, you already ate in the morning and the afternoon, we are almost home. We don't have time to comply wishes of a prisoner. And last, I am NOT hunting his dam food." Grace, a girl from our group said, but the guy didn't take no as an answer. He kept sitting demanding for his food.

Everyone gathered around the guy. someone had to do something and Grace had no patience, she dropped her bow to the ground, stormed over to the guy and with all her momentum she kicked him on the face, if his head was a ball it would be flying over the air, but sadly his head remained on place. "Listen to me brat. We all are hungry, but we don't complain about it." Kneeling down to his level she plucked her fingers around the mess of his hair, she looked at him in the eyes. "My son is waiting for me and you are getting on my way of arriving to him. Get your ass off the ground or else I'll leave you to the wild dogs."

The guy stood up. Grace smiled at him. "Good choice." she said.

But the guy was clearly unhappy with his own decision.

The rest of the way I felt someone was following us and I wasn't being paranoid. My brother and Grace also felt it. Jeffrey said he saw someone moving and so did the rest, among the trees and bushes.

"Looks like someone already found me." The guy said.

We kept walking with our weapons in hands.

"Shut u-" before I could finish my word another guy with a mass of curls stood right in front of me. He was wearing the same black boots and uniform the guy we captured was wearing.
