He stood there hitchhiking for what seemed to be hours. Barely any cars had gone by. And if a car appeared he would wave his hand violently to it, but all that was useless.
So finally he got fed up, picked up his backpack, and started to walk to his destination. As he walked he gazed into the sky. It was murky, but it seemed to be still and silent, like the clouds stayed where they were.
His name was Scott Robertson. An 18 year old college student, he loved fast paced racing. In fact, he was so obsessed with it that every time he got a chance to drive a car, he would triple the speed limit and dodge every single obstacle in his way. Well, almost anything. As for the police, he's read so many graphic novels on that kind of stuff that he kinda knows what to do in those kinds of situations.
Working at the Pizza Hut down in New York Plaza gave him such a headache. The boss is always annoyed for some reason, and when he cleans the place it quickly gets dirty again.
Luckily, he was off for two days so he told himself to go have some fun for once. The people that work there think that he is weird. He always wore shirts with a random dude on a high tech motor cycle and "light speed" as a title and the same ripped jeans.
Scott talked to himself whenever he got bored, mostly reciting the comics he's been reading.
Still walking down the sidewalk, nearing his destination, a black man from the corner noticed him.
"Hey, young man?" he asked.
"Yes... sir?" questioned Scott.
"You got money?" the man asked."I only have ticket money," he answered.
"What's that s'possed to mean?"
"Um, it means money for tickets. I'm going to watch the light speed games." The man had a confused look on his face.
"Light speed games," he repeated. "What the heck is that?" he asked sarcastically."Well, it's where three professional motor cyclists race at light speed on a death track. Whoever wins gets to own the place and gets about half a million dollars."
"That's amazing. What about if you lose?" the man asked. "I don't know. They just kind of....disappear."
"Interesting."
"I know, I'm excited to go watch. Now I must be on my way. Nice to meet you....uh-"
He stopped short at the absence of his name.
The man stood up to shake his hand. He was about 6'4 and had a built, workable body.He had on a black, skin tight shirt that had blue streaks along his sides. His pants were ankle high, and he had on weird shoes. They had heel support on both sides of his feet a had a triangular shape in the front.
"Name is Rett. Rett Summers."
"Rett," Scott confirmed as he studied him. He'd seen clothes like that before but he didn't know where.
Then it clicked.
"Huh! No way....." Scott said, surprised.
"Y-you're one of the um...the-" he stuttered.
"Yup."
