Ah, a nice warm home.
I was finally able to stay in a place that didn't have bugs crawling all over the cold hard ground. (I know, it's gross.)
When Georgia let me into her home, immediately a smile formed on my face. It... it was warm in there. I didn't have to shiver and pull my coat tight to myself. While I was warming up, Georgia was making her way to the kitchen.
"My dear, would you like some Tea?" She asked me.
I perked up when I heard tea. It had been ages since I'd had tea last, I've only drank Coffee and water since...
"Yes, I'd love some tea, Ms.Lake." I said, my smile getting wider. I looked at my hands and saw they were no longer pale, and I could now see some color coming into them. This was great. I wished I could stay here forever, in silence.
What? You don't like us?
Don't be stupid. She loves us... Right?
While I was waiting for Ms.Lake to get back, I spotted a mirror. It had been a while since I last looked at myself, so I walked up to it. I saw myself and gasped. I really didn't remember what I looked like the last time I saw myself in a mirror, but I looked so different than what I was thinking I looked like.
Does that make sense?
yeah... It makes sense to me.
Well not to me
Because you're an idiot
I stared at the mirror, and studied my own face. I had bright purple eyes, (Crazy right?) Long Black hair, and light freckles. I smiled, and got to see my own face be happy. My hand gravitated towards my gold framed reflection, and felt the cold glass on my fingertips. I looked at my eyes, like really stared at them. In them I could see some blue, and white sparkles. My eyes Kind of looked like a galaxy...
"Are you okay Cosmia?" Georgia snapped me out of my trance. I spun around, my face still in awe.
"MY EYES LOOK LIKE SPACE." I randomly blurted out.
"I have tea." she said nervously. She was holding a mug with a visible tea bag in it, so I walked over to her.
"Thank you so much." I whispered, taking the mug from her gently. We both sat down on a floral print couch, and drank our tea. It was silent, I enjoyed that. We sat like this, sipping our tea in silence, occasionally glancing at each other and having a silent conversation with our eyes.
Georgia gazed at her clock. "It's getting a bit late..." she said to me, standing up. I looked down at the carpet beside my feet. I knew what she was going to say.
"Don't worry Ms.Lake, I'll be on my way." I said, standing up as well. Georgia looked confused, as if she didn't realize that was what she meant.
"Cosmia, I couldn't make you sleep out in the cold." she responded, placing her hand on my shoulder. "For Gods sake it's 20 degrees out there."
A smile formed on my face and I looked back up to see her eyes. "So... You're saying..." She nodded her head and smiled too. I squealed in excitement and spun in a circle.
"Thank you!" I said, hugging her. "You won't regret it!" Little did I know, she would regret it. And I would regret it. After that, we sat on her couch again and talked. We talked about her job, her husband, (who passed away from cancer) and her son, who I learned was in an insane asylum.
"How did he get in there?" I asked inquisitively. Georgia shifted in her seat. I could see this was a touchy subject.
"Well..." She took a sip of tea. "My son Sam was diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was 19."
19... we're 19...
I was confused. "What is schizophrenia?
Georgia smiled nervously. "Stay with me dear, the definition is quite long."I hugged my legs to my body and scooted forward in fascination.
Georgia sipped her tea. "Schizophrenia is a long-term mental disorder, where their mind breaks down thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to false perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality, and they fall into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation."
My eyes widened, and my gaze drifted away from her face. I felt sympathy for this poor woman, she lost her husband to cancer, and her son went insane. "I... I'm so sorry Ms.Lake." I looked Georgia again to see a tear drop from her eyes, and roll off her cheek onto the floor.
"Oh... It's quite alright my dear." She sniffed. "That was a while ago." We both looked in opposite directions, and the only sound that could be heard (other than the voices in my head) were the occasional sip of tea from Georgia.
"Well." Ms.Lake said, breaking the silence. "I'd better get you a blanket and some pillows." She left the room, and came back with a soft brown blanket, and a faded white pillow. She handed me the pillow, and I lied down on the floral couch, on the faded pillow, and curled up in the soft blanket.
"Good night Ms.Lake." I called to her as she was leaving the room.
"Good night Cosmia." She called back. "And please dear, call me Georgia."
