How long did I walk? I don't know. It felt like forever. Then again, doesn't everything? I walked until my feet became numb, until my eyes glazed over and I became an involuntary walking machine. When I took a breath, it didn't sound like my breathing... It didn't sound like me. I was in a small city town, at a shopping area. Tons of bustling happy couples rushing to get out of the cold, stinging rain pouring down.

As I walked, I heard hordes of people. What vile creatures they are. making crude remarks to other ones, no idea how it will affect them. I glare at a man who says I look sickly, and feel my eyes bulge in bewilderment, a mirror of the man looking back at me. Because who I was now staring at, was none other than Lucifer himself.

"Luke?" I gawked. How is he actually real? I thought I dreamt him up... but, there was no mistaking his piercing sapphire blue eyes. Luke stopped in his tracks and slowly pointed to himself and gave me a look that said 'oh, you mean me.' I smiled at him, reassuring that it really was me, with a nod of my head and raise of my eyebrows.

Luke eyed me up and down, adjusted his brown leather coat and let out a scoff. "Never seen her before in my life." He said to a lady with short wavy black hair, that he was walking with, before turning around to walk away. I heard the woman whisper "Who's Luke?" and looked back at me with worried storm grey eyes, while she sped up. He's gotta be joking

In haste, I dashed in front of him and flailed my bruised purple arms around aimlessly "LUKE IT'S ME YOU HAVE TO RECOGNIZE ME"I howled, but it only made his look for me more worried and wistful, like the look you give a stray puppy walking in the rain. His lady friend reached out and tried to place a hand on my shoulder, but I grimaced and drew back. "I'm not talking to you RODENT" I sassily said with a snap of my fingers. The woman gasped and intertwined her arms with the the Luke impostor to pull him away from me.

"Guinevere, wait." fake-Luke stopped her. "Maybe we should help her." he gave her a come on don't you feel bad? type look, and she rolled her eyes and looked to the side.

"You're lucky you're cute Lex." She murmured in annoyance. He smirked and pecked her on the cheek. Lex motioned to come with them, and gave me a smug look "Alright young lady, let's get you to some shelter."

The newly wed couple, which I learned on the taxi ride back to their apartment, just moved here and had some space for me to recover for the evening. I don't know how many times I thanked them, and I don't know how many times I apologized for the fiasco at the shopping mall.

"Please dear..." Guinevere said sweetly, unlocking the elegant redwood door to their homey apartment. "You look like you've been through a lot, there's no need to apologize." Even though I was pretty rude to these people, they were so cordial to me.

Lex, or as I learned was also called Lexus, gave me a bowl of cashews. I eyed the cashews, shortly before devouring them all. It had been so long since I ate, and I didn't even notice. The couple had sweatshirts on, with Lex having jeans and Guinevere wearing black leggings, and they both oddly had black socks on. Very matchy-matchy couple, but I don't judge.

After a few minutes of them sipping tea and concerningly watching me annihilate the bowl of cashews, I felt dizzy. My eyes crossed and I felt lightheaded. Everything was spinning, round, and round, and around...

"Cosmia? Are you alright?" Lex asked, racing to my side. "we needs kelp." I thought I heard him say. But processed it again to hear "She needs help" and shook my head. Guinevere shakily handed me a glass of water, but I couldn't grasp it. My hands felt numb, along with the rest of my body. What's happening? it must have been the cashews.

"Cashews..." I mumbled and slowly nodded, agreeing with myself. After that I kind of slipped in and out of reality. I can't tell you exactly what happened, but I felt myself be hoisted up on someone, probably Lex's, Shoulders, and raced to the hospital. I only know that because I regained consciousness in an odd hospital room, with casts on my arms and tubes in my veins.

"She's awake!" I heard many obstructed voices exclaim things like, "Thank God, we thought she was a goner."

"All that surgery and she's still fighting"

"Poor girl's in horrible condition."

why save her though, she's worthless,

just one more person.
