Chapter 2
Tessa ran from her house to the park. The weather treated her badly. The warm, sunny weather from before changed to a storm, gray clouds, pouring rain and lightning pounding from the sky. Tessa never experienced this before. She considered going back to her house but she already ran far. The storm seemed to be coming from the west, she decided to go east, towards Emily's house.
"No," Tessa said to no one but herself "I'm doing this myself, she wouldn't understand, no one would understand."
She started walking north(at least she thought it was north), and recalled sweet memories of her and her dad.
"Don't worry, little girl," her dad said "the storm will be over soon, it's just a little thunder."
"Where's mom?" 6 year old Tessa worriedly asked her dad. Kiera went to the grocery store and didn't come back yet. She's been gone for a while now. "I'm still scared daddy,"
"Okay...lets play a game" her dads blue eyes twinkled, just as they always did when he was excited. "You and I are spies and we have to get to the...kitchen but, there are lasers, and..."
"Unicorns!" Tessa said excited, she never liked unicorns.
"Yes! And we have to stop them because they are gonna eat all the...chips!"
Tessa remembered the night. Her dad turned a stormy night into a wonderful spy journey.
"I could really use you now, dad..." Tessa said as she heard shuffling steps behind her.
"Who do you want?" The person behind Tessa said. She couldn't identify the voice, she didn't know this person. "Are you okay, you've been wondering around the town, it's not safe this time at night." The voice belonged to a boy.
"Have you been following me?" Tessa asked clenching her fist. The boy had a coat on, with a big hood, covering his head. She hadn't taken any martial arts, but she could stand for herself. "Who are you?"
The boy simply remained quiet and reached into his back pocket. Tessa rushed towards him and jabbed him in the stomach and was about to kick him to when he pulled his hood off. It was a teenage boy, Tessa's age. Kinda cute... Tessa thought to herself. Brown hair, green eyes...
"I'm Chase Baxter, I am 17 and I live here, right there-" Chase pointed across the street. "I saw you wondering around when I took out the garbage, and wanted to make sure you were safe."
"Well...I am." Tessa wanted to know this boy more.
"Look, I don't know you, and you probably don't know me, but, how bout' we go to my house and you can stay over night. It's not safe now."
Tessa quickly took up the offer and started walking to Chase's house.
"What are you doing out here?" Chase asked.
"Well...I'm..." Should I trust him? Should I- Tessa didn't have time to gather her thoughts because they were at his house.
"Come on in."
Chase's house seemed like paradise, warm and dry. He had couches that seemed comfortable enough to sleep in. She could use some sleep.
Chase got the both of them hot chocolate and Tessa decided that she could trust him, she told him everything.
"I want to go with you!" Chase exclaimed, "It's not safe for a girl like you, out on an adventure, you need a strong guy like me around."
"A girl like me?!" Tessa asked defensively, "Don't forget I almost beat you up on the streets there."
"Only cause' I let you." Chase said playfully punching Tessa.
"Oh, you wanna go?" Tessa put her hot chocolate down and stood in a fighting pose.
"Let's go!" Chase said doing the same as Tessa.
They were play kicking and fighting until chase sent a hard kick to Tessa stomach. She fell to her knees and Chase pinned her.
"See, better than you." Chase said flirty-like.
"Okay...unless I do-" Tessa flipped chase over and pinned him "THIS!"
"Mercy, mercy!" Chase said as they laughed.
They got up and shared a laugh. The first relief Tessa had in a while.
"So, where am I going to sleep?" Tessa asked.
"How about right here?"
"Okay!" Tessa said flipping down on the largest couch. "Ahhhhh..."
Chase went to the couch beside her and grabbed blankets form the dining room.
"Here-" he said. "So, since I provided you a bed, a shelter, food and...shall I continue?"
"No, it's okay."
"Can I come with you on your little adventure?"
"I'll think about it, in the morning, I'm tired now."
"Night Tessa,"
"Night Chase,"
The light turned off and Chase slept. Tessa, not so much. She had an idea of her own. She got up and grabbed a piece of paper she snatched from the kitchen earlier.
Thanks for everything. I can't take you with me, it's too dangerous, for me and you. Im taking the blanket, a pillow, a water and food. Hopefully you won't mind me taking the essentials. I know you'll probably be really mad so...I l think you're really cute. There, dwell on that.
Tessa
She read the note over and out it next to Chase. He'll find it when he wakes up.
"Bye Chase, thanks for everything." She whispered into the room.
Tessa closed the door and went to the park. The storm died down a bit, the weather not as cold, the blanket helped a bit. Tomorrow, it's gonna be interesting...
