Chapter 1

Today was the day. My first day of high school. As the summer was coming to an end I was invited to just do high school on a remote island were I and 4 other students could learn the core curriculum while also being trained in our bending skills. The issue was I didn't know any of those four students that would have come with except for one....my best friend Jay. I didn't want to go because I wanted to go to high school like a normal kid. Even though I skipped a grade....or 2.

I was really excited that whole entire morning. I put on my uniform and did my hair. As we ate breakfast and drove on our way there I was so incredibly giddy. Garroth had to calm me down constantly since Zane was not a people person and Vylad was going into an entirely different school. But I was still excited either way.

Once we got there all of my excitement turned into nervousness so I decided to draw while I waited outside and then I saw another freshman who looked just as nervous as I was. She had Raven black hair and golden hazel eyes. And to make things worse Ivy was teasing her and threatening her. So I thought enough was enough.

"Ivy you leave her alone!" I yelled as I walked up to them.

"Oh come on Kris I was only having fun..besides this little potato was getting close to my man! And we both know that I can't let that happen." She replied

"How many times have I told you. My brother doesn't like you like that and he never will if I got anything to do with it." I said

"Ha! And what is the untrained avatar gonna do about it?!" She said as she tried to taunt me.

"Why don't you stay a little longer and find out?" I said

I formed my fists and go ready to bend and as I made my stance she just left.

So turned to the other girl. She looked so incredibly familiar but I really could not put my finger on it

"You okay?" I asked her

"Yeah just a little emotionally hurt that's all." she replied

"Well stick with me I know I can help you through it. My name is Krystal by the way. But you can call me Kris. I respond to either one."

"Yeah sure my name is Aphmau. And thanks for the help but I'm pretty sure I could have handled it myself." She replied

"I guess I'll see you around Aphmau" I replied.

I turned and went looking for Jay but as I was searching I bumped right in to someone and fell on the floor.

"Hey watch were you're!-....oh.....Laurence it's you. I'm soo sorry."

"No that's quite alright it was my fault." He said as he helped me up

I began to blush a little after he helped me up.

"I guess I'll see you around then?" I said

"Yeah you too. I'm gonna look for Garroth... Bye Kris" he said he blushed too

Laurence came over to my house alot after he became friends with Garroth. I was used to seeing him around the house but there was one day were I was reading and walking at the same time and with out paying any attention I tripped over something and landed on top of him with our faces just centimeters apart. He was about to make a move on me but I quickly got away that day and ran into my room blushing mad. And couldn't stop thinking about what almost happened. But the thing is that I never had a real crush on Laurence till that day which might I add was only 2 or 3 days before school.

The doors to the school finally opened and everyone went flooding in . I finally found Jay in the freshmen check in line. I talked with him for a while then I went to home room. Jay had a totally different home room class.

I sat in the back for a while and found out that Both Zane and Aphmau have the same homeroom as me. But Aph was late.

" Kris?! How. Did you not get lost in the school?!" She asked as she took her seat next to me.

"Well it kinda helps when you have a brother that gives you multiple school tours before you even come here." I replied

There was later this other kid with white hair and green eyes that sat right behind me

"You must be Krystal?" He said

"Yeah how do you know me?" I ask

"I've seen pictures of you plastered all over the training center."

"Ah I see. Well what's your name?" I asked

"My name's Travis. It's so awesome to finally be meeting the avatar."

"Um okay. And I've never had a friend who knew who I was before I personally knew them."I said

"Wait did you just call me your Friend?" He asked

"Yeah is there a problem with that?"

"No it's just I don't even have a nick name for you yet."

"You can just call me Kris" I say as I giggle a little

"Alright sounds good." He add

I give him a friendly smile and we all head for the gym to decide on what clubs we should join.
