Chapter 11: Awake and back

3 weeks after being admitted to the Hospital Saint Antoine, in Paris, Marinette awoke from her coma. She slowly turned her head, that was still aching. "Maman?"

Sabine turned to look at her daughter. "Mari! You're awake! Oh, mon cheri! I was so afraid that you had died!!"

Marinette smiled weakly. "I am here now, maman!"

The nurse walked in to the ward. "Oh, hello, Marinette! I am Tracey Lesen, your nurse. I am happy to say, you have made a remarkable recovery, and you will be able to go to school again, in a week!"

"A week?! NO!!! I want to go back! I have to go back now!!"

"I am so sorry, sweetie, but you have to stay here under close observation until we can release you." Tracey replied.

"Am I allowed to text my friends, at least, Maman?" Marinette asked, as Tracey left.

"Why not? Anything to take your mind off the boring waiting." Sabine said, handing her daughter the phone.

Marinette looked at her screen. 108 new messages. About 50 from Alya, and the rest of them from her classmates, including Chloe and Sabrina! She replied to everyone.

Mari: Hey guys! Don't worry about me, I'll be back next week!

Chloe: Hello Marinette. I am sorry about what happened. Let's forget about everything that I have done and said. Wanna be friends?

Mari: Sure!

Alya: Mari!!!!Did you get my messages?

Mari: Alya, you sent 53!

Alya: Sorry! How are you?

Mari: I am good!

Adrien: Hi Marinette!

Mari: Hello, mon chaton!

Adrien: Don't say that on public message!

Mari: The one's you're receiving are private, dummy! The others are getting the public texts.

Adrien: Then I'll join the class!

Mari; Fine! Gotta text Alix, Rose and Juleka! They sent me a new message just a minute ago!

Adrien: I've gotta go too. Dad's calling me! Love ya!

Mari: Love ya too, my handsome model!

Adrien: Cat out!

Alix: Hey, Mari! Hope you're well!

Mari: I am! Will be back next week!

Juleka: Sweet! C U Then!!!

Rose: Mari, the class will be visiting tomorrow!

Mari: Aw, thanks!

Rose: I was really scared and upset when you fell!

Mari: Don't worry now. I will be back next week, and you'll know I am safe!

Whole Class: C ya, Mari! We'll visit tomorrow!

Mari: Au revoir! Goodnight!

Whole Class: Goodnight, Mari!

The week passed in a quick pace. Marinette received cards and small get well gifts from everyone. The day came when Marinette was discharged from hospital.

"Goodbye, and thank you!!" Marinette yelled out to the hospital staff. Tracey was wiping away tears. "Goodbye, Nurse Tracey!! Thank you!!!"

Marinette walked to class the next day, and was greeted with 'Welcome backs' and 'We missed you!' from all her classmates.

"Girl, it's good to have you back!" Alya screamed.

Adrien walked up to Marinette and enveloped her in a massive hug, that earned "Oohs" and "Ahs" and "Aws" from the girls and wolfwhistles from Nino. "I missed you, Mari. I am glad that you are back, well and alive!"

Chloe watched from her desk. Marinette walked up to her. "Chloe? It's alright! We're friends now!"

Chloe burst into tears. "I know! But it's my fault that you were almost killed!!!"

"Chloe, stop! It is alright! Understand? We will be friends from now on, and we will both forget abut this, okay?"

Chloe sniffled. "You really are a good kid, Marinette."

Marinette beamed. It was good to be back.
