Hazel

I wanted to believe that Malachy would come for me, but a part of me just didn't. He had made it clear with not only what he had said upon meeting, the rejection, then him not stopping me from accepting and the biggest. He let me leave without a fight, with no whispered promises.

I shook my head, laughing sadly. I couldn't expect things to turn out lime they do in the fairy tales. It was reality, and in reality you didn't alwas get what you wanted, you can never take even the smallest things for granted. I had, but that was life. I may soon to be queen but no one was perfect least of all myself.

I looked around my room suddenly feeling like I was suffocating. I left the room and made my way to the gardens. I needed air, and since the gardens were closed off I knew no one had to follow me. I walked towards the stone bench, and set down slowly. My body felt like I had the world weighing them down, and no matter how much I tried I couldn't shake it off. I felt my eyes well up with tears, I wasn't usually such a pitiful person it so much had happened in just over a week and a half that I decided I didn't care how I looked.

I let the tears fall silently. I wished my mother was here, I'm sure she'd know exactly what to say to make me feel better but she wasn't here. I sniffed, taking deep breaths trying to calm myself down. I reached uup to wipe my face when someone suddenly grabbed my hand, I jerked my gaze up ready to scream but when k see Malachy standing there, expression pained I nearly chocked on it.

"Wh-why?" I whispered unable to complete the sentence.

He went down to his knees in front of me, my hand still in his as he used his free hand to wipe my tears away. "There is so much that I have to apologize for. So many times I messed up- I think the worst is hurting you. I have a lot to explain, will you listen?" He asked, his eyes sad as he took in my red eyes.

I nodded, not wanting to speak, I honestly was afraid too. This for all I know could be a dream. "I have no excuses for why I rejected you, I was afraid plain and simple. I feared of being in a relationship like my father. I was afraid you'd make me fall for you then you'd leave me, or you'd cheat on me. But, like my father said, I need to stop living in the past and move forward and Hazel I know I've hurt you, and I've made so many mistakes but I can't live without you, I can't see a future without your big innocent blue eyes looking at me. I'm in love with you and though I have a lot of making up to do, I hope you'll give me that chance."

I was speechless, I had hoped he'd change his mind. But, now that he has what if he changes his mind again. What if he doesn't really want me? What if's kept playing through my head.

"I- how do I know you won't change your mind? What if-" Malachy cut me off, his finger resting gently against my lips. My eyes widened.

"I won't. I know I had the trust issues before and I'm sorry I've messed up so much that I've made you not trust me." I opened my mouth but he shushed me, "it's okay for you not to trust me. I understand. You opened my eyes Hazel. And now, I'll prove to be the mate you deserve."

I couldn't help it, all the emotions swelled up and I burst into tears, Malachy quickly wrapped his arms around me and I cuddled I to his chest. I couldn't even explain how good, how complete I felt being in his arms. Feeling his warmth seep though out shirrs and into me. I loved it.

Sage watched from the sidelines with a sad smile. He was happy the idiot came for Hazel but even with that said he was still sad that he'd never get the chance to be with the woman he loved. Hazel had always been there for him after his mate had been killed.

Sage knew a new chapter was beginning not just for himself but also for his best friend. He would wish them both the best, but he couldn't see himself staying here for longer than necessary. After all, Hazel had no real use of him anymore and Sage was okay with that.

Sage turned toward the balcany and seen the King looking down with a smile. He turned to Sage and nodded his head, Sage turned and left the garden. After the ceremony, he'd leave.
