Hazel

I bit my lip trying to calm myself. Lexi was going crazy inside my head wanting us to be closer and when she nearly screamed the word mate, it made perfect sense to me on why I suddenly felt attracted and drawn to this man. I was about to speak when Malachy suddenly turned and left. My eyes widened and I felt a small pain in my chest.

Why is he walking away? Lexi whined, just as confused as I was.

"Hazel are you okay?" Sages voice suddenly brought me back and I tore my eyes away from where Malachy had been standing.

I nodded, "yeah I'm fine. Just thinking." I lied. I didn't need Sage to know. Not until I found out why Malachy just walked away. Didn't he feel the bond? The pull? Didn't his wolf confirm that I was his mate?

Sage looked at me for another moment and I forced a smile so that he would back off. "Really I'm fine. Come on, let's look around." I didn't wait for him to reply, but began to walk around the compound. Everything was nice, pretty even. I stopped in a wife open area and instantly smelt the sweat, a small whiff of blood and lots of- males. I blinked my eyes at all the half named men.

Sage stopped beside me, "this must be their training ground." Sage's voice held a hint of excitement and I shook my head, men.

"Why don't you join them?" I asked, looking g up at Sage. He opened his mouth to speak when we were interrupted by Cole's deep voice. "Sage, Hazel. What are you doing here?"

"Looking around." I said, trying to look anywhere but at Cole. He didn't have a shirt and though I wasn't attracted to him in the least, it was a lot of male for my virgin eyes to take in.

I heard Cole chuckle but still kept my gaze anywhere but on him. "Wanna join us Sage?"

I turned and looked at Sage and could see that he did but then his eyes turned to me and I remembered what the Alpha had said. I sighed, "I won't leave the grounds. I promise, go join them."

Cole nodded, "she will be safe here. Don't worry." Sage still looked unsure but then slowly nodded.

"Don't leave the grounds." Sage wanted, turning serious.

I nodded and gasped in surprise when Sage quickly removed his shirt. I'be seen his chest before but we were young, very young. Now Sage had filled out, and had the body of a warrior of twenty years old. I turned away, "y-you have fun." I squeaked out before leaving them to it.

I walked around for a while, believing that I'd seen everything when I suddenly ran into something hard. I stumbled back and looked up to see what I'd hit and my breath caught when I seen Malachy. His eyes ran over me, slowly. "I- sorry." I said feeling nervous once again.

Malachy looked down at me, "follow me." He didn't wait for my reply but turned away and I was forced to jog to catch up with his long strides. We stopped when we were further into the woods and I became nervous, I wasn't supposed to be out here, and I'd promised. But, I was with Malachy. He wouldn't let anything bad happen, right? "Your my mate." He stated.

I looked at him wide eyed and nodded. Then frowned when he seemed disappointed. "Is there something wrong with that?"

He scoffed, "well when my mate has another male and is teasing the rest of the men here yes it's a problem."

My mouth gaped in shock, "what?" I was confused, who was my male and how was I teasing others?

"The man standing beside you, holding your hand when my father introduced us." Malachy said with concealed anger.

I laughed, figuring it out. "Sage? He's my friend, has been since child hood."

Malachy laughed himself. "I'm not stupid. The way he looks at you, there is no way your simply friends."

I felt my anger spike. "He is a friend. He doesn't.look at me any certain way. And I don't know what your talking about when you accuse me of teasing. What does that even mean?"

Malachy's face reddened, "I won't be taken for a fool. I don't know why you and pretty boy came to this pack but I have a few guesses. You would rather have have someone who isn't your mate, I know she-wolves like you." He said harshly.

I blinked, "w-what?" Did he really think I was wish Sage? How- I don't understand.

Haz.. Why's mate so mad at us? Leci asked, whimpering.

I wish I could answer her, but I didn't even know. Malachy stood tall, and I had to look up slightly. "I have seen women before use men like this, and I won't be one of them. I won't be a fool who thinks that a mate can't cheat on them. I never expected my mate to be the same as those kind of women." He said disgusted.

I was so confused, he believed that I was a loose woman? That I'd cheat? What the hell?

I was torn out of my chaotic thoughts by Malachy speaking. " I'm just going to get this over with. I, Malachy Saxon the next Alpha of Black Moon-"

I realized what he was doing and whimpered in pain, "please don't." But he ignored me.

"Pack reject you, Hazel as my mate and Luna." He finished, his eyes holding such a small amount of regret that I wasn't sure if I'd even seen it. I nearly screamed as the pain sliced threw my chest. I gasped for air, I could hear Lexi howling in pain. I blinked away the tears that clouded my eyes and breathed deeply. When I looked up, Malachy was gone. I looked around more not only noticing he left me in the woods but that it was getting dark and I had no way of knowing how to get back.

I whimpered in fear as I looked around the thick forest again. L-Lexi? I asked nervously.

I'm here with you Haz. She said brokey, and fresh tears sprang to my eyes. I can't believe he rejected us. Just because he has bought so lowly of me? I shook my head and stood up. Maybe this was the best way, I didn't need a mate to be queen, I van take care of things myself. I just had to keep reminding myself that I had bigger responsibilities.
