I look up and see a snarling, black-haired creature standing in front of me. He is panting like a dog. There are sharp teeth sticking out of its mouth. The scent of every exhale is like nothing I have ever smelled before. It slowly leans its grotesque mouth to my ear and growls,

"Do you know The Voyager? I'm looking for her?"

I am confused and scared. Not a very good combination. The creature gives a snort and whispers

"Not going to talk, ehh? Let me fix that."

It raises its paw. It has 5 very long, very sharp claws. The paw surges toward me. "No!"

I'm up so fast I get light-headed. "It was just a dream, nothing to fear."

I exhale slowly, trying to reign in my heartbeat. My sister, whom I share a room with, says, "You okay?"

I just nod, and say "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a dream, go back to sleep."

Slowly, I lay back down, only now noticing how sweaty I am. The clock says it's only 2 in the morning. I have to get back to sleep. Oh, what fun I will have next week! I am looking forward to staying with my friend, Sarah, for the whole week. We will go and stay in Ohio with her grandma. We will have so much fun.

My eyes open slowly. 10:13. Well, I must have fallen back to sleep last night. According to the flashing light on my phone, someone sent me a text while I was asleep. My best friend Dylan is coming over to ride dirt bikes today. Yay, I have been wanting to do this since summer started! We always have so much fun. I tell him to be at my place at noon. He doesn't reply, but I know he got the message.

I sit up quickly and look around my room. I share a small room with my sister. I have the top bunk while she sleeps on the bottom. The walls to our room are white, but we find ways to spunk up the space. Hanging on the wall above my bed are three band t-shirts; one from Alice Cooper when he was in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, one from Def Leppard when they were in Cleveland, Ohio, and another from Def Leppard when we saw them in Mt. Pleasant. My mom said that even though we had seen them once, we couldn't miss them when they were in our back yard.

I hop down from my bed, not even bothering with the ladder. I peek into Kenzie's bed to find it empty. She must already be up and running. She has posters of Taylor Swift along her wall. We both have shelves full of stuff, books mostly, next to our beds, and each of us has a vanity. I leave my room and walk to the kitchen where my mom is standing, drinking a cup of coffee.

"Good morning, how'd you sleep?" Mom asks me

"Fine. Dylan will be here at noon to ride dirt bikes, just to let you know."

"Oh, okay, that's fine. Guess you should eat and shower before he gets here, huh?"

"Yeah," I say as I take down a bowl and get out my cereal. "Working on it."

After I eat, I go and get my clothes together that I will wear today. I choose a tank top, jeans- so my legs don't get burned on the bike- and a nice pair of socks.

The water is warm on my back. It's nice after that nightmare. I feel refreshed and ready to start my day. The feeling is so nice, I'm going to take my time. Eventually, I get out and get dressed. In this black tank top, I am curvy. I am thin, but not a skeleton with skin. I have a little bit of fat, but I still have a flat stomach. I am quite tall, taller than most of the boys in my class. My hair goes down just past my shoulder blades. It's wavy, and a shiny light brown color. My eyes are an unremarkable pale blue-green. I like my smile. My dimples are my favorite feature. I put my hair up in a ponytail, no sense in letting it get tangled in the wind today.
