Daniel bounds out the door, he doesn't even have his shoes on.
"Daniel! Get back here!" I call;after him, mentally facepalming. He stops in his tracks, runs back toward the house, quickly slips on his shoes, and runs away again to the bus stop. I walk out into the brisk spring morning air, rolling my eyes as I did so and locking the front door.
The sky is slightly cloudy and the sun is still rising, giving the rest of the sky a beautiful pinkish orange color. The sun shines in my eyes as I continue down the neighborhood street; Wyatt street.
At the bus stop, Daniel lays on the ground, setting small pieces of grass on fire before quickly smashing his fists on them to set out the flame. I lightly slap the back of his head in disapproval.
He has black hair, but now it's covered in a light frost where I hit him. He grunts as he sits up and melts the ice just enough to not set his hair aflame.
Daniel always tells me that he wants to get part of his hair dyed red to go with the theme of his power. That has been his favorite color ever since he discovered that he could make his hands glow red. He says he'll look 'rad', whatever that means, but I can't help but agree he'd look pretty awesome.
I wrap my hand around the stop sign pole and watch as ice crystals start to spread. I love the way frost looks, it's so unique. Every single crystal is like every human on Earth; different. Daniel walks to the other side of the pole and sits down at the base. He, too, wraps his hand around the pole. Soon enough, his hand starts to glow and then the pole did.
"Don't melt the pole!" I exclaim, sending him into a giggling fit. He let the pole go so it could live to see another day.

The bus finally pulls up to the curb and Daniel wipes the frost off the pole. We climb up the bus steps and are greeted by tired faces, all except one.
"DANIEL!"
"JASON!" Daniel runs to his friend and plops down next to him. I smirk as I see some people glare at them, their facial expressions saying that it was too early in the morning to be yelling.
I stroll past Daniel and slap him in the back of his head again, though the frost did not show. I can control whether or not I want it to given my extra four years of practice but Daniel, on the other hand, can't.
I choose a seat in the vacant back of the bus and stare out the window as the bus pulls away from our street.
I have one friend and I usually hang with her friends, but she doesn't ride the bus because of morning lessons in Orchestra. Her name is Olivia and Jason so happens to be her little brother. They are like everyone else: normal. No powers.
The bus parks by the school and we all stumble off. Daniel races ahead and starts chasing Jason around. I swear, they are like toddlers. I look around to see if I can find Olivia, no luck.
"BYE, IZZY!" Daniel yells from the entrance of the school, I wave him off and walk to my school which is across from his. I sit on one of the steps and wait. People pass me, and then I see Nathan.
I don't know him much but I've seen him around quite often in our small high school. He says hi very quietly and keeps walking. I look back at him as he hurries into the school. He's a strange kid, that's for sure.
