I'm assuming that right now you're very mad at me, but I hope you aren't. I hope you are happy with Rebekah or someone else who deserves to know what your love is like to have. New Orleans was hell. Everything was hell. It had been three months without Elena. Elijah couldn't seem to face anyone. Klaus being king banned Hayley and her pack for what she did to Elena. Rebekah found her comfort in only one person and the person wasn't Kai. Kai and Kol the two that seemed to have suffered the most through this whole thing and become best friends in there misery until they both gave up and turned into partners in crime instead. Partners with zero humanity. Well that's what it seemed like to everyone else considering the town was painted in a vampires favorite color. Red. Except Kai and Kol cared for each other. Understanding the misery that her death put on both. The one person who saved them. They vowed to keep each other safe and vowed to keep hope and Jeremy safe, for Elena. That's how she would have wanted it. The troublesome two knew that Elena wouldn't want them to have a killing spree but it's what seemed to distract them from the heavy ache they felt when alone. Doing good only came naturally to them in the presence of the girl who inspired their goodness. Yet they couldn't seem to find the light. Kai sat reading the letter he found to himself feeling incredibly guilty. He made so many promises to stay good and yet he broke it.
"Kai get down here we have people to kill places to see mate. Let's go."
"Coming."
Kai knew that Elena had felt strongly for this certain mikelason and he also knew that Kol hadn't had anyone but Elena. Sure his family but they never really made him, human. Elena did. Just like she did with Kai. So he has made sure that Kol didn't fully turn off his humanity. Engaging in kol's behavior and actually becoming to care for him.
~3 months before~ Elena
The knife I had been keeping in my pocket forever cut into my leg has I landed with a thud on the ground. Everything here looked like something out of a movie it was creepy. With only a little light shining from the tree. With her super hearing she picked up a growl and a groan from somewhere. Using her vampire senses she picked up on two presences. One human and a another monster. Not a monster she knew though. But she was for sure on who this human was. Dean. Her speed got her there in under two seconds. Dean was struggling in the grip of someone and it looked like the other type of vampire. Jaxs kind. Not even hesitating I sliced off the guys head with my hand. Which made me kind of smile reminding me of when I met Elijah. I'll admit dean was a lot hotter than I expected him to be. Like a lot. He stared up at me with gorgeous green eyes.
"Thanks Kathy."
Kathy? Why would he think I was someone else. Unless? No! Oh god no.
"Fuck!"
"What? What's wrong."
"Dean who are you talking to?"
I really wanted to punch something. Like bad and it made me think that maybe I developed some of klaus's temper. Katherine fucking pierce. When I thought purgatory couldn't get any worse.
"Well if it isn't my boring doppelgänger. Funny seeing you here."
"Of course they would send someone as evil as you here."
She sped in front of me and smirked.
"Careful Elena I could kill you in a heartbeat. Older, remember?"
Now it was my turn to smirk.
"You may have years but you're not stronger than me anymore Katerina petrova. I've what you can say as toughened up."
Katherine grabbed me by my throat squeezing with all her strength and I played along letting her think she had the upper hand, but as soon as she looked proud of herself I broke her wrist and shoved her to the ground holding her there with my combat boot. Dean was looking at us confused and it seemed like a look he got a lot.
"Hello dean it's nice to meet you. I'm Elena."
I reached out for him to shake my hand. I knew he didn't trust vampires easily.
"We have a mutual friend."
"Oh yeah and who might that be?"
"I believe he goes by Bobby."
"You know Bobby? How is he? Do you know Sam?"
"Bobby is fine he is worried about you though. I made him a promise that I'd look out for you while I was here. I've met Sam once and that was when he saved me from Crowley."
Katherine was struggling against my foot so I let her up. She stood up quickly dusting her self off. She scoffed.
"Thanks for the help dean."
"Your welcome."
"How'd you get so strong and don't tell me Damon."
"Screw Damon and Stefan I ditched them along time ago."
"Oh trouble in paradise?"
"Wouldn't call it paradise but yeah something like that."
"I never thought the Elena Gilbert would actually be able to ditch the Salvatore's. You never answered my question though. How'd you get so strong."
She thought it over and finally decided who cares if Katherine knew.
"I may or may not have stepped up my game. In guys and friends. Causing me to have a strong advantage on who my training partners are."
"Hate to break up the girl chat, well actually I don't but still we need to get out of the open. Elena you are more than welcome to join us."
"Thank you."
Dean lead us to a small cave big enough to fit all three of us but barley.
"Alright now we aren't in the open tell us what you meant."
"Come on Katherine you're smart. Think really hard."
"No."
"Yes!"
Dean was looking at us in awe and confusion.
"Okay I get that you guys have some weird telepathic communication thing going on but I'm lost."
"We have a group of the very first vampires they are like our alphas I guess. Stronger than anyone."
"A group?"
"A family. My whole immortal life I ran from one of them, the strongest. Because he is half vampire half werewolf. He can't be killed."
"Isn't that impossible?"
"It should be but no. You're friends with them?"
"Well.....I'm friends with Rebekah."
"Which one are you dating?"
"Well it was Elijah. That ended though. I think. I don't know everything is so confusing."
"You were with Elijah! Did you sleep together?"
"Yeah we did."
"He is good isn't he?"
"Yeah he is. Better than Damon that's for sure."
"Why did you and Elijah end?"
"Some girl named Hayley slipped him something to make him think he was in love with her."
"Desperate much?"
"No kidding. Oh by the way Elijah is good but klaus is way better."
"You slept with klaus?"
"I love him."
"Well would you look at that sweet Elena Gilbert with the all mighty hybrid."
"We weren't really together much but I guess you can say we broke up when I came here."
"How exactly did you become friends with the originals? Didn't you guys hate each other?"
"Elijah and I never hated each other. Elijah took me in when I turned off my humanity. He helped me get it back."
"He helped you but isn't the one who got it fully on?"
"Correct. Kol turned it on."
"Kol too? I haven't seen him in ages."
Something was different about Katherine almost nicer. It's weird. She got some of her old qualities but not all.
"What's wrong with you Katherine?"
"What ever do you mean Elena?"
"You're different."
She gave me a weird look and I looked at dean who was staring at Katherine like she was an angel and it clicked. They are together. Or he at least loves her. How interesting.
"Oh never mind I understand."
"Understand what?"
I just smiled at her. Katherine finally found love and I knew dean could handle her.
"Anyways on to more important things like where Benny is."
"Who's Benny?"
"The vampire with away to get every single one of us out of this hell."
~Present time~ Klaus's P.O.V.
Not having her here is still to unusual for me. Some days I expect to find her playing with hope or re-reading To Kill A Mockingbird for the millionth time. Other days I find myself almost crying at the thought that she wouldn't be there to make me pancakes anymore. God I feel like I lost my wife and I'm acting like it to. Although I'm very good at not showing emotions but right now I'm probably the worst next to my brother.
"Niklaus we need to do something about Kol. He is stirring a lot of problems in the quarter."
"What did you expect to happen after she died Elijah? He is in pain."
"Maybe so but so are we and we're keeping ourselves together Kol is not he is becoming a problem because he can't control his feeling properly."
"Elijah I don't think you understand how much Kol loves her."
"We all love her! Loved her!"
"Don't speak like our love is past tense Elijah! She is not gone she will come back to me. She has to."
"Elena is gone Niklaus and she is never coming back."
"Elijah I swear if you do not get out I'm gonna tear your heart from your chest."
Elijah flashed out of the mansion and I just broke. After what felt like forever I couldn't hold back anything anymore. The weight of loosing Elena fell on to my heart.
"Klaus......klaus are you here?"
What is she doing here?
"Caroline?"
"God klaus what happened to you?"
"Why are you in my house?"
"I came to apologize to Elena. What we did to her was wrong very wrong and I'm not that person I'm supposed to be her best friend but I took Bonnie's side instead."
"Sorry Caroline but you're too late Elena died 3 months ago."
"What? No she...I didn't.....Please tell me you're lying and pulling some dick klaus move."
Klaus laughed with no humor.
"God I wish I was Caroline."
The girl I once loved or thought I loved bursts into tears while some of mine still leaked on my face.
"Okay I know why I'm crying but why were you? An evil scheme gone wrong."
"No Caroline I don't think you understand. I love her. God I love her."
"Elena? You love Elena."
"We all love her. I miss her so much. Her kisses. Her pancakes. I miss my queen and she told me not to wait for her but I can't seem to stop."
Caroline stopped crying and looked at me and I guess she figured I was being honest because next thing I knew she was hugging me. She said not to wait for her.
Elijah's P.O.V
Kols just an 1000 year old vampire child who can't seem to control his emotions. He is acting like part of him died which is drastic. Wrecking havoc everywhere with Kai. I'm going to put a stop on them or get the to turn on there humanity no matter what it takes.
