I wake to the sound of my alarm going off repeatedly. I roll over to the other side of the bed and slam my hand onto the snooze button. Mondays, oh how I dread your presence.
I slide out of bed and proceed my morning routine. I brush my teeth, then walk over to my closet. I pull out a white, loose tee-shirt, black skinny jeans, and a red flannel shirt to wrap around my waist. I loosely curl my hair and put a black beanie over it. I put on natural looking makeup, then slide on my black Converse and look in the mirror.

Huh, not bad for a Monday morning, I think. I swipe my book bag from my desk chair and sling it over my shoulder, grab my phone and a cereal bar, and yell goodbye to my mom sitting at the dining room table, reading a magazine while sipping coffee.
When I get to my car waiting for me in the driveway, I see Clay alreading sitting in the passenger seat.
"What makes you think I'm taking you to school?" I grimace.
"Please. Mom's car is in the shop so I have to let her use mine. Plus, neither one of my friends have a car," he pleads with puppy eyes.
"Ugh, fine," I roll my eyes. I slide into the driver's seat, and put the key into the ignition. When we are on the road, not even ten minutes away from our school, I glance over at my brother. He's staring out the window, the look that he gets when he is thinking about something serious.
"Whatcha thinkin' 'bout?" I ask.
"Nothing, it's just," he pauses, gathering his thoughts. "I just feel like I'm forgetting something."
"What, like your phone or homework?" I ask, eyes plastered to the road.
"No, I feel like I'm forgetting something more important than that," he exhales, defeated.
I pause before I answer. I think about what he just said.
"Yeah," I agree with him after a few minutes of silence. "Me too..."
