Finally I'm home I had to walk 6 blocks to get here. I can't afford a taxi home this week because they needed more money at the hospital for my mother since she has Stage 4 Breast Cancer. I have done everything to help her but it's all I can do for now, I've even sold everything I own to help her. I live in a small studio apartment just so I could pay for her treatments, I do it because I know she would do it for me but it's not easy living alone. I miss her so much but I gotta do what I gotta do.
Before it was just me and her then she got sick 2 years ago when I was 18, everything has changed since then and she's just slowly getting worse.
I sigh.
I walk up three flights up stairs and finally apartment 3C. Thanking God as I open my door I throw off my shoes an walk through my kitchen, right in my living room, and pull my bed out of the wall yup that's right my bed goes up on a wall. My whole place is one big room with a closet size bathroom, that's about it I am glad I work lot because sometimes it feels very claustrophobic in here.
I walk over and change into my sweatshirt and shorts. I will take a shower later I just really need to get out of these business clothes.
After I change I take two steps over to the kitchen and open the freezer and get a Hot Pocket to heat up.
I put one in the microwave, taking two steps and sitting down. As I'm sitting here thinking, I hear my work ringtone go off. Fuck Vivian Locklit is calling me, fuck what does she want now! I just now got home whyyyy?! I think about not picking it up but if I don't she might fire me and I need the money. I go over to my pocketbook and pick up my phone before it goes to voicemail.
"Hello Mrs. Locklit is everything ok? Do you need something ma'am?" I ask as nicely as I can.
"Lily!!! Why didn't you pick up your phone on the first ring?!" She huffs out.
"I'm sorry ma'am I was in the bathroom." I reply trying to sounds sincere.
"Well it better not happen again!! Anyway, I need you at my house in one hour with the file I gave you today!!!" she snaps then hangs up. I don't even get to say a word an she hangs up on me ughhhhh she's a mean women if that's want you want to call her. She is to skinny for her own good! I know she doesn't eat, well... I mean all I see her have is smoothies and drink energy drinks. I know she's probably just hungry that's why I think she's mean hahaha, I laugh at my silly inside joke. Of course I have nothing against skinny people and there's nothing wrong with being skinny, but if you don't eat, it's not good for you. I mean I would love to be skinny don't get me wrong but not everyone I guess can look like a super model.
I stand up an walk over and grab my jacket including my keys, purse, and the file in hand. However, now that I think about it, I'm going to have to wait for the bus. Grrrrreeeaaaaat...
I walk down my three flights of stairs and I'm out of breath as walk out of my apartment. I see the bus at the bus stop YESSS!
I yell like a crazy person and wave my hand as I run to the bus stop I see my favorite driver Ricky.
"Hey Ricky, do ya think you have room for me?" I laugh as I walk up the steps.
"Hey Lils! I always have room for you Chica!" He replies, I hear his accent come out a bit as well.
"Thanks!" I say as I put in my bus fare I go and sit in a seat by myself, lucky the bus is not that full and I relax myself as the bus pulls off.
_______Time Skip On The Bus_______
"Thanks for the ride Ricky! Tell your momma I said hi!" I say as I walk off the bus.
"I will Chica me and mama are going to visit mama Jean soon." he says as he smiles at me sadly.
"Ok come anytime me and mom would love that! Especially Mom!" I say as I walk down the steps waving good bye as the bus pulls off, I start walking. Only a few more blocks and then I'll be at her house.
I look at my flip phone to see how long it's been. Dang! It's been 45 minutes! Ok, Ok blue, just breathe you can do this, I can get there in 15 minutes. I start walking down the street, it's pretty dark now but at least I only have about a mile or two to go so I start power walking.
_______Time Skip_______
Finally! I made it to Ms. Locklit's house. She lives in a big fancy house in a suburban neighborhood, I don't understand why she has such a huge house, it's just her and her husband they don't have any kids or pets, nothing.
I type in the passcode on the gates keypad it opens with a beep and I start walking up her drive way, I don't come through the front I come in through the side door where the helpers come through. I knock on the door and the house keeper Rosie opens it greeting me with a smile, she's a lovely old woman I love her to death we are very close.
"Child! What are you doing here so late?!" She asked pulling me in the door.
"Mrs. Locklit needed a file from me." I say as I walk with Rosie in the helpers hallway to the main entrance of the stairs.
"Wait Mrs. Locklit has a small dinner party going on." She says as she stops me.
"What?! But I'm not dress for something like that!" I say as I look down at me sweatshirt shorts and a jacket.
"Here let me look and see if anyone is out in the main hallway." She opens the door and nods her head for me to come with her I walk out the door to where the double staircase and the main entrance is.
"Ok you go into the kitchen and I will have Mrs. Locklit meet you in there ok?" she says as she walks down the hall to the den.
I turn and walk to the kitchen as I open the door see most of the cooks are gone. I walk over to the kitchens island and lay the file out for her like she likes it. I stand an wait I hear the door open and I keep my back turned.
"Mrs. Locklit I brought the file I hope you find it to your liking, I also hope it has everything you need. I am so sorry I am not dressed formally like how I usually am, you caught me off guard." I say as I reach to hand her the documents.
"Mmmmmm. Unless your normal clothing shows more skin, I'm glad you are wearing that." A deep sexy husky voice said.
Shit that's not Mrs. Locklit I feel all the blood drained from my face.
