September 9th, 2071.

The lights are off. Past the white tiles, a lanky boy around the age of seventeen tiptoes slowly into the swinging room, making sure to not wake up his mistress.

Not that she would wake up, anyway. Or be angry even if she did. She'd stop him, though. He didn't want to be stopped. He needed to go, and though the seventy-one-year-old lady sleeping in the room spiraling beneath him didn't realize it, she needed him to go too. He was doing this for her. Only for her. Well, you couldn't say Zen wasn't curious himself, but it was for her.

The door slides open by itself, revealing a glass cased room with the night sky for a roof. He places his bony fingers on the glass wall on his right, and the wall lights up with color.

Identification, please, the wall asks.

He enters the code he had scanned from the other day when his mistress entered.

Identification Verified. Information Cache is now open.

His fingers skim through the wall's scribbled information - words and numbers all stacked one on one, one beside other, unorganized. That was just how his mistress was. Unorganised. Disruptive. Creatively messy. He finally reaches a folder amongst a  gazillion others. He taps on it.

The damage is done.

He looks on with something in his eyes that people would recognize as guilt, and finds another one. He slides it over to the center wall.

And there, in scribbled handwriting, it reads,

4881 Walkers Ridge Way, Naperville, Illinois, United States.

His eyes light up. In a haste, he slides the address back to the side wall and closes all of the information blocks open. He re-enters the code and steps out with a smug look on his face.

Behind him, the door closes. What's done is done, he thinks.

He snatches his own time stick from his room and enters 18th May, 2016.

And just like that, he's gone.

A/N

So! First peek, I guess. I realize the prologue is extremely short. Though the other chapters might not be this short, they won't be particularly long either. Also : I love writing in third person, sigh. The main chapters in this book are all first person narratives, so that's that. It's hard. Plus it looks so informal. I don't know.

Anyway, tell me what you think of this chapter! Do you find it weird that he cares so much for his mistress? And she's seventy-one too haha. Also, did you notice the date he'll be traveling to? I'm sneaky like that!
