Chapter 4

Stein's POV

I walked home and sat in my office. I had papers to grade and a specimen to dissect. As I was grading I got to Luna's paper. I smiled and looked at how she filled the questions. I smiled and graded it. When I was done I went to circle the grade and was shocked. She aced it. I smiled and put it on the top of the stack and instead of going to do my dissection i found myself going to bed. I sighed with thoughts of Luna in my mind and went to bed.

I woke up the next day and got ready for school. I walked to the DWMA and swung around to (y/n)'s way to school. I found her and she saw me. "I'm happy I can feel your soul." she said and I looked at her. "Oh you can?" I asked and she nodded. "Yea my parents can as well." she said and I nodded. We walked to the school and were at the base of the stairs. I saw her walk over to the rail. "What are you doing?" I asked and she looked at me through her hair.

"Going up the rail." she said and I tilted my head. "Why?" I asked and she sighed. "It's better than going up the stairs." she said and I walked over to the other one. "Interesting..." i said and she chuckled. "Indeed." she said and I looked at her. "Wanna race?" she asked and I smirked. "I'll win." I said and she smirked. "I don't think so." she said and ran up the rail. "HEY YOU GOT A HEAD START." I said and ran up mine. She got to the top and jumped over BlackStar and then landed with a role.

I ran over to her and she gave me an innocent smile. "What?" I asked, "I beat the best meister that has ever graduated from the DWMA up a measly rail?" she said and I sighed. "You cheated." I said and we heard the familiar ding dong dong ding of the bell. "Come on we have class." I said and she ran up to me and to class. "She certainly is interesting." I thought.

Your POV

Something felt a bit off today. I didn't know what it was. I walked into class and sat in Stein's chair. He walked in and saw me." What are you doing (y/n)?" he asked and I smirked and looked at the floor. "You wanted to see my weapon form." I said and stood. "Yes I did." he said and I looked at him. I put my foot on the table and jumping doing a flip changing and landing in his hand. We matched almost immediately and I smirked. I looked at him through my blade. "You have a beautiful design." he said and I could feel myself blush. "Just get whatever you were going to do over with." I said and he smiled. "BlackStar, Tsubaki!" he said and they sat up. "Come here." he said and they stood.

"I want you two to fight (y/n)." he said and I looked at him. He threw me in the air and I changed back. I landed flawlessly and looked at Stein. He smirked and sat in his chair. "Fight!" he said and I looked at BlackStar. "Tsubaki!" he said and she turned. "Right!" she said. He took his stance and so did I. "This will be fun." I thought. He ran at me and I jumped onto Stein's table. He looked at me and I smiled.

I jumped and landed behind BlackStar. He spun around trying to slash me. I moved and smirked. "You gotta be quicker than that....assassin." I said and he looked at me. He ran at me and I moved and dodged each attack. He stopped tired and I smirked. "My turn." I said and made one swift lunge into his stomach. "Soul Force." I said and he flew to the wall dropping Tsubaki. I walked over and she turned and sat on the floor.

I had dark grey lighting shooting from my fingers and spiraled my hands. I smiled and went to place them on his head. "Enough!" Stein said. I snapped out of it and looked at BlackStar. "I-I'm sorry." I said and ran out. Tsubaki ran over to BlackStar and he sat up holding his stomach.

"(y/n) wait!" I heard Stein call after me. I kept running and I ran out of the school. Ding Dong Dong Ding. The final bell to leave rang and I still heard Stein's footsteps behind me. I saw Maka's dad step out of the Death Room and I jumped over him. Stein jumped by him and kept going. I ran out of the school and down to the city rooftops. I jumped from roof to roof. "Damn why can't I shake him?" I thought and ran to the outside forest of the city. I hid behind a tree and he stopped and caught his breath.

Stein's POV

I can still feel her soul. I looked around and tried to get the wavelength of her soul. I found her behind a tree. I walked over and grabbed her. I pulled her to me and held her. "Let me go Stein." she said and tried to get out of my grip. "No! You'll never be alone." I said and she stopped. She looked at me and sighed. "But I'm a monster, a freak." she said and collapsed to the ground.

I knelt by her and put a hand on her shoulder. "I keep it caged and i can't control it." she said and I looked at her. "When the darkness comes know I'll never be far." I said and she looked down. "I must confess that I feel like a monster." she said. I sighed and brought her onto my lap. You feel so lonely and ragged." I said and she looked down. "I hate what i've become." she said and I looked at her.

"(y/n)....You're not a monster." I said and she looked at me. "Just leave me to die!" she said and held her chest. I grabbed her and put her on my lap. "FOR THE LAST TIME YOU'RE NOT A MONSTER!" I said and she looked at me. "WHAT MAKES YOU SO SURE...YOU SAW WHAT I DID TO BLACKSTAR." she said and I sighed. "I don't care what you did." I said. "I shouldn't have made you fight him like that." I said and she looked down. She put her hands on my chest and I brought her in.

She cried into my chest while Soul and Maka showed up. "You got her." she said and I nodded. She sat up and wiped her eyes. I stood and picked her up. "Come on let's go home." I said and she nodded. She listened to my heart as I walked with Soul and Maka and she fell asleep. "Professor?" Maka said, "Hmm?" I asked. "Do you love Luna?" she asked and I looked at her. "What makes you say that?" I asked and she shrugged. "You were the first one to chase after her." she said and I looked down. "I was worried." I said and she smiled."So then you do love her." she said and I sighed. I looked down and smiled. "I guess you're right."
