Chapter 5:

I walked into the studio, not knowing what to expect. When I entered Al Berry, Steve Ferlazzo, Rodney Howard, Dan Ellis, and David Immerman, also know as "my" band mates.

"Since this is the first practice, since your accident, let's work on something you wanna work on for fun. Perhaps your favorite song." Steve, my keyboardist, suggests.

"Then let's go with my favorite then, let's start with Take Me Away." I said knowing what I was feeling.

"We haven't done that song in years." Al Berry, "my" bassist, pointed out what I was fearing.

"We'll it hasn't been a fan favorite in a while, but that doesn't mean I don't like." I try to cover up my secret.

All five of them give me a weird look.

"I guess I'm just feeling this one today." With that they start to believe me.

"Alright then, let's get started." Rodney. "my" drummer, said. "And a  one, two, three, four." Then the beat started and I got wrapped up in the words.

"I cannot find a way to describe it
It's there inside; all I do is hide
I wish that it would just go away
What would you do, you do, if you knew
What would you do

[Chorus:]
All the pain I thought I knew
All the thoughts lead back to you
Back to what was never said
Back and forth inside my head
I can't handle this confusion
I'm unable; come and take me away

I feel like I am all alone
All by myself I need to get around this
My words are cold, I don't want them to hurt you
If I show you, I don't think you'd understand
Cause no one understands

[Chorus]

I'm going nowhere (on and on and)
I'm getting nowhere (on and on and on)
Take me away
I'm going nowhere (on and off and off and on)
(and off and on)

[Chorus]

Take me away
Break me away
Take me away "

"That was great for something we haven't done in a while." Rodney said, making me do a mental phew.

"Let's try one of our new pieces. We need to catch up for lost time." Steve suggest pulling out the sheet music for everyone to see. Shit Shit Shit. I don't know any new stuff.

"It's funny, we were in the middle of writing a song about death before you got shot." Rodney pointed out, "If you died in the shooting, then it would have been really freaky." If they only knew.

"Let's do a run through. Remember this is a slow song, so beware of rushing." Al warned us and gave me a helpful tip. "Let's start with what we got."

"Alright, sounds good." I said feeling the nerves coming  in.

"And a one, two. three." They all started playing. Thank God I played the violin before all of this, so I could read music.

"You were hanging by a string, but  you were a fighter.
Until one day it was too much for you, and you ha to let go.
You had to say your goodbyes.
You had to leave us all behind.
Leave us crying a river of tears for you.

 Goodbye my friend.
You'll always have a place in my heart.

Goodbye is not forever.
Someday we'll meet again high above the clouds.
You brought beauty to the world.
Now it's your time to bring beauty to heaven.

It's been some time.
So, I gotta put a brave face on and face the world..."

The whole time I was singing that. I was thinking about Avril and what really happened to her.

"It still needs a lot of work. It's a work in progress."
