Chapter 3:

Knock! Knock!

"Come in!" I called out to the person on the otherside of the door.

THe person opened up the door, revealing Chad to be on the otherside of the door. He walked in saying, "Hey, Avril. How are you doing?" Chad walked over and sat down by my bedside.

"Fine." Awkwardness filled the air. I don't even know how to start a conversation or even talk to this guy that I've recently been wedded too. I've never been in the same room or even the same city. I highly doubt he's been to my small hometown. The best way to get married to someone is a brain transplant.

"Fine? You have been passed out for days, under critical condition for days, no one was allowed to see you. How could you be fine?" Chad blew up at that one word. It doesn't hurt that much to have a brain transplant. It sounds more painful than it really is.

"The doctors are doing thier job. I'm fine, you don't need to worry." I tried to calm him down.

"Avril," God, I hate being called that. "What's going on? You're acting different and none of your injuries can explain it, so don't try and blame it on that!" I wasn't going to. "Please tell me why you are acting different."

"First off, I wasn't going to blame it on my injuries. That would be really stupid!" I was starting to get really pissed off.

"Just tell me Avril." Chad was growing impatient.

"I wish I could." I shyed away.

"Why can't you tell me? I'm your husband. You can tell me anything." Chad's anger turned into pleading.

"I don't want to get into trouble with the doctor."

"Why the hell would you get into trouble with the doctor?" Chads anger rose again.

"I had a top secret procedure done that no one can know about. Or know what it was. I can't tell anyone and that includes you."

"Why not? I'm your husband and I payed for part of it."

"No you're not and no you didn't. My parents did."

"What the hell do you mena your parents payed for it? Then what's the money coming out of my bank account going towards? Also I am your husband, I know we haven't been in the best place right now, but we haven't settled down on a divorce."

"Well, I never said I do."

"Yes you did. I was there. I heard and watched you say it."

"You watched and heard Avril say I do, not me!" I semi-yelled hoping the doctor didn't hear me.

"What the hell does that mean?" Chad was on the verge of exploding, that's how pissed off he is at me.

"Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lucy. My brain was put into Avril's body, because she was brain dead, bit her body was still alive. My body was dead, but my brain was alive and functioning."

"So, what you're saying is that brain inside that head isn't Avril's and the bosy you're brain is in isn't your body?" Chad was trying to clarify. I understand, it's a very confusing situation.

"Correct. Avril and I had a brain transplant, in simpilar terms." I comfirmed.

"So, you're not really Avril. Sorry for being sucha hardass on you."

"It's okay, you didn't know."

"So, the thing about me and Avril on the verge of getting a divorce. I guess, it's settled." Chad got up and headed to the door.

"Wait, we need to talk about this. We can't do it right now or it will look bad to the doctor. Can we wait a little. I don't want to get into trouble with the doctor."

"We can wait, by the way, how old are you?" Chad sat down in the chair he was previously sitting in.

"Seventeen. Almost eighteen."

"So, the song seventeen really does apply to your life." Chad said letting out a chuckle.
