What It Once Was

Jewish families were once connected,

But now they're spread across Germany while life is hectic.

They once lived in their own paradise,

But now they hide fearing for their life.

As they're transported to camps their faces hang with gloom,

They walk into the gas chambers to seal their doom.

A mother once stared at her son with joy,

But now a gun is being pointed at her little boy.

A small girl who's job was once just to sweep,

Is being beaten while her mom can only sit and weep.

Nazis treat the Jews like animals,

They think Jews can survive without water just like camels.

Jews sit on the floor and clean their clothes filled with bugs,

Daydreaming about clothing their families once made for them out of love.

Wedding rings just sit in boxes,

While husband's and wive's dead bodies are thrown to the foxes.

For a little a girl all hope has faded,

Because the rest of her family is being cremated.

A father was once proud of his five sons,

The middle child is now the only one.

All of those Jews stayed trapped,

Because Germans decided not to act.
