It was my first day of high school. Well, not really. it was the first day of marching band camp. As the new kid in town, I was very nervous to meet people at camp. People my age, and especially people older than me. I took a deep breathe and walked into the building.
And I was lost.
Fortunately most of the freshmen were lost as well. So I followed them. We get into the huge auditorium. I know no one. I have only been in town for a week and already I am forced to socialize with other teenagers.
The day goes by and I manage to avoid almost all human interaction. And then, I see a presence next to me.
"Hi. You're Emily right? Welcome to high school."
And that was it I guess. Soon enough more people came up to me and introduced themselves, and by the time school started, I knew a fair amount of people. I thought this until I realized how massive our school is.
Soon, my few friends introduced mt to their friends, I met people in my classes and on my bus, and soon I had a group of people I considered my friends. And I seemed happy. I think I was.
After all, it was better than last year.
