"You Saved My Life!"

Skylars POV

All these powers were overwhelming me. So many to master and such little time. We were currently rescuing people from a collapsing tunnel, and I had to use my rapid fire abilities to break the concrete that confined people into their own trap.
" Ok guys we can do this. Skylar use your rapid fire to break the concrete. Oliver, Kaz, and Bree you guys quickly rush everybody out of the tunnel, and I'll use my molecular kinesis to lift the heavy beams off the trapped cars." Chase explains

I nodded in agreement despite only catching the slightest of his words amongst the chaos of the scene. Ever since I had gotten my powers back they had become harder to control. I didn't want to tell anyone in any case. I had been longing to get my powers back for so long, and now that I had them back, I couldn't give anyone  the slightest idea of me not being prepared to get back in action. It was thrilling to have my powers back, but the haunting thoughts of me hurting someone clung to my conscience and consumed me into a world of doubt.

A piercing shriek brought me out from my own world, the floor shaking violently from beneath me. I turned to the others, already racing towards the source of the screams. Ignoring everything that dwelt within in me I quickly jumped in to action with Chase, his hands motioning from side to side as his molecular kinesis released the trapped people.   Paramedics rushed in and out of the tunnel, loading people onto the stretchers before quickly bolting from the scene. I looked towards a large beam, slowly closing in on a couple trapped car. Raising my clenched hand I instantly shot spherical balls of fire at the collapsing beam, the rubble and excess rocks deflecting off the aim of the car.

"Good job Skylar, keep going we are almost done!" Chase encouraged, ripping the metal doors off the car, freeing the couple. 
I felt a weird sensation in my stomach as he smiled at me. A sense of reassurance settling within the pit of my stomach forcing a pump of adrenaline to burn through my bones. I continue to shoot the spherical balls of fire rapidly, the balls glowing in the brightest red I had ever seen as they pierced through the stone surfaces.

Suddenly Oliver, Bree and Kaz appeared out of no where, their breathing heavy and scars crawling up their faces.
" Ok that's the last of them!" Bree stated, dusting off her mission suit. It's ash consumed material  blinded  the metallic blue that was once so visible.
" Great, Skylar and I will check that no one else is trapped, we will meet you guys outside." Chase instructed, pulling up from behind me. Biting down on my lip, I only nodded in response, leaving the others to make a clear run for the exit.
Pacing across the room, my eyes scaled the sight for anyone else who could be trapped. Chase trailed down the left tunnel while I continued my search down the right. Broken pieces of rubble smothered the floor making it harder for me to pace my steps. A tingling feeling travelled up my arm and into my spine, my hand quickly becoming to twitch. Gripping my hand with my other I desperately tried to stop it, before suddenly a shot of lightning collided against a having beam. I starred in shock as the beam suddenly came crashing down, narrowly brushing against my skin.
" OK SKYLAR LETS GET OUT OF HERE!" Chase's distant voice echoed through the halls.
Fear clung relentlessly to me as I struggled to turn away from what had just happened. Had someone been standing under that exact spot, they would have died and it would have been all my fault.
" SKYLAR!" Chase's voice yelled again
Turning for the exit I quickly made a run for it, my chest heaving in panic and my eyes threatening to bleed in tears.
Reaching the end, I turned to face Chase breathlessly, his hand grabbing my shoulders as he looked at me concerned.

A loud rumble echoed through the halls, my eyes turning from behind me back to Chase.
" Ok that's all of them. " He said
" Yeah me too, the tunnel is about to implode. Let's go!" I urged, pulling my hand behind my back

Chase looked at me rather concerned as I kept to a swift pace. My hand began to tingle again,bathe sensation getting stronger with every second. I felt my arm lose control quicker than normal, my feet slowing down as I tried to control my hand.
" Skylar are you alright?" Chase asked concerned locking eyes with  me.
" Yeah, I'm fine" I lie, hiding my hand behind my back
He looked at me un convinced, his eyes bleeding in concern yet confusion.
Suddenly my arm began to twitch faster, fire abruptly smashing the roof above me. Chase looked shocked, my eyes swelling with few tears as I waited fearfully. The beam instantly began to collapse the beam about to collapse on top of me.

" SKYLAR LOOK OUT!" Chase shouted before he rushed towards me and pushed me out of the way. We both smashed into the opposite wall, as we shielded our faces from the crumbling concrete.
I turned to face Chase who was huffing heavily while his arms gripped around my waist
" Are you ok? Are you hurt?" He asks concerned
I break out of my shocked state, and find myself starting at Chase in the eye.
" You...you saved my life!" I stuttered as a smile slowly emerged onto my face, his caring eyes chasing the fear away.
He chuckled before embracing me in a hug.
" I'm just glad you're ok!" He said, my head resting on his shoulder
" Thanks, thanks for saving me." I thanked, gently returning the hug
He slowly let's go and looks around.

The beam trapped us and prevented us from any means of escaping. Chase's hands began to feel around the wall but it was rock solid.
He turned to face me, a look that only told of confusion.
" Hey, why did your arm shoot fire randomly? " he questioned, looming closer towards me
" Ohh that was... It was... You know what, don't even worry about it." I said
" Skylar what's going on? " he asks while looking at me seriously

I let out a deep sigh before letting down my guard.
" Chase, I haven't told anyone this, so please don't say a word to this to anyone. " I say
" Ok" he says in a hush yet confused voice
" I'm scared. Ever since I got my powers back, they haven't been the same. I don't know how to control them" I confess while resting my head in my hands.

I felt a gentle touch on my shoulder and see Chase look at me with a comforting smile.
" Why didn't you tell me, or anyone. We can help you, I can help you" he says
" I didn't want anyone to think I was not ready for missions. Getting my powers back was the best thing that happened to me, and that's thanks to you. I just need to control them" I say

He slowly gets up and paces around.
" Ok I can see you don't want anyone to know, but that doesn't mean I won't help you. I will help you through every step, I'm here for you" he says while crouching down next to me.

" Thanks Chase." I say while embracing him in a hug.
There was something about him that made me feel safe to tell him whatever I want. His hazel eyes provided comfort for me and his smile made me feel all happy.

I quickly return to my attention to the current issue at hand. Being trapped. I get up and begin to pace around.
" Great now what are we going to do?" I mutter
" Don't worry the others will find us!" He assures.
I felt another weird feeling in my stomach.
Could it be possible that I like Chase, I silently thought.
No, no way. There is no possible way I could like.
Could I?

Ok I know I said I was going to wait a month but I just have a lot of inspiration for this book and I couldn't wait. However updates will be slow, much like my other books. I will be starting another 2 books in about a month, and I after my exams I will have a lot more time to update.
