What the Jocks Want
Chapter 1:
Jones and Smith
"That guy is such a bone-head!" I moan to my best friend Cassie Smith as we get our books from our lockers, watching this guy as he makes his move on yet another girl across from us. A disgusted look forms on my face as he 'accidentally' stumbles forwards and gets a good feel of her.
"I don't know Mar, he's kinda cute" Cassie replies, and I stare at her like she's gone insane- which she probably has.
"Cassie! He's a jock!" I remind her, and she raises an eyebrow at me
"Marnie! He's a jock!" She repeats back to me, but her way made it seem as if Jockdom is ok.
It's so not.
"Ok, so you're telling me that if he asked you on a date, you'd say no to Ted Davies, the star quarterback?" Cassie asks me, a smirk on her face. She tucks a curly strand of naturally blond hair behind her ear, waiting for my response.
"Of. Course. I. Would. Say. No!" I shove school books in my bag as I say each word.
"But Marnie, he is does kinda have the cutely dumb thing going on. Um, can you get my science book down for me please?" I reach for the book, and hand it down to her, not believing what she is currently saying to me.
"Here. And no he does not" I close mine and Cassie's locker, and turn to look at her. She rests her hands on the wheels of her chair, and I shook my head at her. I would miss arguing with her like this.
"Hey, that's just my opinion. And are you still coming round tonight?" She asks me, hope obvious in her blue eyes.
"Of course I am. I wouldn't miss it for anything" I tell her, and she gestures to hug me. I bend down, and wrap my arms around my best friend.
"Lesbos!" A male voice called out, and I turned around to find Ted grinning at me. I let go of Cassie, and stand up straight, facing him. Cassie maneuvers her chair so she is facing the same way I am, and I scowl at this... Jock.
"Bonehead" I reply, and he grins at us. Beside me Cassie waves at him, twirling a strand of hair around her finger. He waves back, and then turns back to me.
"Jones, I think you're girlfriend wants me" Ted jokes, and I put on a fake sad face.
"Of course she does! You have the one thing I could never have" I told him, wiping a non-existent tear from my eye.
"Oh yeah, what's that?" Ted asked, a cocky smile on his face.
"AIDS"
Cassie's jaw drops as I insult the star quarterback of our winning football team. I grab hold of the handles to Cassie's wheelchair and spin her round, and begin wheeling her to our first lesson.
"Whatever Jones, you want me!" Ted calls after us, but I don't turn around.
"Kiss my a-" I stop as Cassie is scowling at me, and I close my mouth without finishing the word. I can hear Cassie giggling to herself in front of me about the power she knows she's got over me, and I smile as I know that it's true.
After the gruelling process of what some people call school, I open Cassie's front door, and she wheels herself through.
"Mom, I'm home!" She called out, and Cassie's mother came into the room.
"Hello Cassie dear, you okay? Marnie" Mrs Smith nods at me, acknowledging my presence, but her full attention is on Cassie, and Cassie's current well being.
