The Spirit Tree

I sat at the tree

and she came

to me

midnight eyes

full of fireflies

silver and white

as bright as the lights

river of hair

gown as green

as the grass

that alights it mahogany

skin as the

sun starts to dim

i smile up at the

women who lost her life

to save mine
