“That’s the last of it.” Jasper said; slamming the trunk of my black Audi A5 closed as he packed the last of the stuff we’d be bringing on the plane ourselves. I had bought the car randomly from a car dealership since Jasper didn’t have his own (not counting his silver Ducati) and, well, because I liked it.
Today was the day. We were leaving Forks and I wasn’t sure when we’ll come back…if we ever come back. Emotions ran through me, but I tried to control them as best I could for Jasper’s sake. He has to deal with everyone else’s probably conflicted feelings and mine won’t help him a bit. I looked lovingly at the grand house, emptied of the things that meant something to us, and stood awaiting our arrival whenever that may be. Carlisle closed the door one final time and locked it. I let out a sigh and looked to Jasper. He smiled reassuringly at me and wrapped me into a tight hug from behind.
“Remember our clean slate, sweetheart.” He whispered into my ear, making me shiver in pleasure. I felt his lips kiss my neck lovingly and I leaned into his side happily. This will be a clean slate. There won’t be any memories of the lonely nights I spent in that last room on the left. No more pain of not having the man of my dreams. Now, we can start over.
“Right,” I said with a sigh. Jasper pulled the passenger door open for me, and I slid in effortlessly. I watched the other Cullens disappear into their cars easily and began to start the engines. Emmett beeped loudly in front of us with his Jeep, waiting for us to back out. Jasper swung in with a laugh and the engine purred to life. Soon, we were shooting out of the drive and barreling after the two cars ahead of us, with a Jeep closing in quickly.
We decided to go straight to the airport in Seattle instead of the small plane ride from Port Angeles to Seattle. It should at least take three or four hours for any human in a car, riding the speed limit. But we were vampires. All four of our cars sped off into the direction of Seattle at a very illegal limit. We got there in just one hour. I couldn’t help the smile of satisfaction as we pulled up to the airport. This was it. Jasper squeezed my hand before smoothly getting out of the car.
Jasper had the trunk open once I followed after him. Emmett was already piling Rosalie’s bags onto his broad shoulders without as much as a complaint. Rose smiled at me as she slipped one bag over her shoulder and rolled along with a matching luggage bag. I shook my head and laughed to myself. Jasper was already placing straps over his shoulder and was obviously taking the larger load, though I could easily lift my car. I guess chivalry isn’t dead.
So he wouldn’t take every last bag, I hurried toward the trunk and threw a few over my thin shoulders. With a huff of air-more for the wide eyed people that walked past our loaded shoulders than for me-I hauled the last bag out of the car. Jasper smiled happily at my attempt to appear normal. The valet took the keys from him and sped away, after giving me a long look…if I may add. With Jasper leading the way, we followed after Emmett and Rosalie quickly.
Carlisle had already gotten all our first class tickets by the time we all met up by security. Jasper and I had been dropping off our entire luggage since we were only allowed one carry on. He wore a black backpack while I had a long strap shoulder bag. Carlisle handed me a ticket and smiled warmly at me. I couldn’t help but return his smile of excitement. We were, after all, going back to his home country. Jasper’s arm was over my shoulder and his lips kissed the top of my head as we waited in line. I tried to ignore the stares other women gave Jasper, but my annoyance bubbled over.
Taking Jasper’s head in both my hands, I pressed myself against him. I tried to get as close to him as possible before I dared to crush my lips to his. He was surprised by my sudden affection, but easily switched into my mood. His lips parted for me as the kiss increased, making my stomach flip in delight. My hands tangled themselves in his hair as the airport disappeared. The scents, the sounds, and everything else dripped away until all that remained was me and Jasper. His hands locked around my waist and pulled them closer to him. I deepened the kiss and felt his teeth bight into my lip.
