A storm is brewing...
"Now everyone, these formulas will be on your next test so..." He lost me at test. I let out a quiet sigh and let my head fall onto my small desk. "I'm not really feelin' it today. Must be the weather." I grumbled. My eyes peered outside the window finding a bright blue sky with birds flying a flutter in the distant sun. There wasn't a cloud in sight but yet an umbrella found shelter in my bag. Rubbing my tired eyes, they wondered again setting their sights on a more suiting gaze. Across the vast room, I saw a familiar figure listening intently to the instructors words. I couldn't help the small blush that would creep its way onto my cheeks when I looked at him. The way his back would flex ever so slightly when he moved, how his slender fingers would brush against his face, pushing strands of hair out of sight, and how the man's eyes were narrowed so that you'd get a glimpse of color of dark brown. I loved it. I loved him, but I've never mustered up enough courage to strike a conversation with em'. I just watch from afar, not saying a word. I wish I could just...
"Hae-in ssi?" Goodness. Why am I so fascinated with him!? Why am I so shy that I can't even talk to the guy I like? Why is that? "HAE-IN SSI!" "Huh! Yes, sir!?" I retorted standing firmly upright letting my chair fall. The instructor breathed a heavy sigh and adjusted his glasses. "I'm not sure what's so fascinating about Mr. Seo's back side, but it can't be more important than my lesson. Honestly, you're one of my best students Hae-in ssi." He fixed his glasses once again. I bowed a sincere bow. " I am very sorry sir. It won't happen again." " I should hope not. Now then class...," he said turning his attention to the board. Closing my eyes, I sat once again blushing. Not because I was looking at Changbin but because everyone knew I had been looking. I heard little snickers all around the room feeling their intense stares like they were burning holes in my body. I'm such an idiot. Out of all that though, the boy didn't turn around once. He sat as he always would, scribbling down what he could. Did that not bother him? Maybe he doesn't get worked up about that kind of stuff or on the other hand, he just didn't care...
I slumped in my chair just thinking about that last remark. Maybe he's just apathetic to people around him. Now that I think about it, he's never been the type of person to interact with others. Does he really not care? I gripped my knees. Why do I have to think things that bring me down so hard? Resting my head in my arms, I turned to look at Changbin. "Such a pretty face." I thought staring yet again. I'm hopeless.
After quietly sulking to myself, the end of the day couldn't have come any slower. I sat waiting for the sound of all footsteps to fade into the hall and packed up my things to leave. Walking to the door, I passed Changbin's desk sliding my hand across it. After a few moments of further sulking, I left the classroom and made my way to the entrance. Putting my regular shoes back on, I heard little drips from somewhere. "Is it raining?" I said aloud. I looked out the entrance to see dark clouds swirling and pouring with droplets of water. Wind blew in every direction overwhelming the trees with its mighty gusts. How did the weather make such a u-turn in such a short time? "Good thing I brought my trusty umbrella." Letting a smirk form. I smacked a hand to my face in reaction. Yea. Like my tiny umbrella will stand a chance in a floopin' typhoon.
I struggled to open my black blotted umbrella which did not budge to open. It always does this. I'm beginning to think it doesn't like me much. I was at the point of giving up and just walking out un-armed in the elements. Slumping with bag in hand I began to walk. Just before I stepped out, I heard a slow "Oi" coming from further inside the building. I turned to see a dark figure walking towards me. "The trains are delayed ya know." I widened my eyes finding a black haired brown eyed male who wasn't much taller than myself stepping in front of me. "Changbin!" I shouted. He shifted a bit at my enthusiasm. "I don't think you'll be getting home anytime soon in this." he said with eyes narrowed. I had to face the facts that he was right. There's no way I could make it. "So what are you going to do then?" he asked not looking really concerned. "Me!? Oh I was going to..." I don't know. I didn't know what I was going to do. There's no-one I could call or anything. My parents are away on their second honey moon and my relatives are spread all over the country. And now, I'm face to face with the guy that probably thinks I'm a creep for staring. Oh this is just my lucky day isn't it? I have to apologize to him though. "I-I'll figure something out for sure but um..." Grasping my bag, I averted my gaze. "Well um. I'm really sorry for what happened earlier. I- I was just lost in thought and didn't realize anything. Sorry." I strained out with a blush flushing my features.
There was a long silence in the midst. I was beginning to think it'd go on forever. Turning to face him, I saw a wry smile curl his lips upward. That's the first time I ever saw him smile. "Changbin?" I whispered confused. He breathed out a chuckle and shoved his hands into his pockets. "It's fine." he said. "It's really not uncommon." His words had taken me aback. I wasn't expecting that to be what came out. Hearing him say that made me feel relieved. Letting my hand rest on my chest, I took a deep breath and smiled brightly up at him. He blinked a few times but returned my expression.
The storm seemed to get worse by the second. The rain started to sound like hail crashing on the windows. I stared outside with hot breath forming fog on the glass. "This doesn't look good." I said to myself. Changbin grabbed his bag that had fallen and started walking to the exit. "My place is around the corner." he said looking over his shoulder. "W-what?" I said surprised. He turned around fully to face me. "I'm saying come with me." He stretched out his arm waiting for my response. It was a warm gesture: nice and kind. Standing a bit surprised, I soon took his hand and began a slow pace. "We're gonna have to sprint." he said unfolding the umbrella. He tightened his grip. "Ready?" I shook my head shyly but surely. Fixing the umbrella over ourselves, we dashed as fast as we could out of the building and into the wild fury of nature.
