Lucy stood speechless as the red eyes stared intensely at her from the darkness. "Heh. Why are you hiding?..I don't bite." He snickered. His raspy voice sent shivers down Lucy's spine.Resting his arms over the horizontal bar of the cell, he motioned for her to come closer and step into his view.
Lucy, unsure on whether it was out of fear or curiosity, walked down to his cell and into the dim light. The man seemed to have been stripped down to nothing but ragged, dirt-stained pants, and a white scarf. His tan skin defined his lean muscles, and his grinning teeth showed two extra-sharp canines.
"How'd you know I was here..." Lucy asked. She stood her ground, trying not to show the fear coursing through her.
The spiked pink haired boy smirked at her, slightly lifting his head up as he pointed to the tip of his nose. "Let's just say I have a good sense of smell." He winked. His smug look flourished his obvious over confidence.
"Smell?" Lucy questioned, crossing her arms over her chest. "Is that all you can do?" She smirked, lifting her eyebrow at the aggravating man.
This, however, made the boy laugh as he threw his head back from the bars. "You're a funny one!" He chuckled. "How about you let me out of this cell and I'll really show you what I can do." His dark arrogant stare set onto Lucy's flustered face.
"As if I would do that!" She yelled, biting her lower lip while the boy continues to look as smug as ever.
The mage shrugged, pulling back away from the bars and leaning on the cell's back wall. "What's your name sweetheart?" Sliding down onto the floor he began tugging at the chains on his feet, allowing the metal to clash together and echo through the empty hall.
Lucy studied him as his frightening demeanor began to fade. "Wh-what's yours?" She stuttered, trying to avoid answering his questions. He stopped toying with the chains and glanced up at her, unamused.
"My name is Natsu..." He breathed, focusing his attention back onto the iron around his red swollen ankles. Lucy realized that his entire body was pretty beat up. Cuts and bruises covered his frame from top to bottom.
'He must have put up a good fight.' She smiled.
The blonde then shook her head; removing the grin that she allowed to slip past her stone façade. "Well, Natsu. If you keep tugging at those, it will worsen the irritation."
Natsu looked down at the redness and stopped yanking at the metal cuffs. He then fixed his position, crossing his legs one over another. "Well, since you're not going to tell me your name, mind telling me why you're down here?"
Caught off guard by the questions, Lucy quickly began to think of a lie. "I-I'm Uh... I'm the night guard!" She stuttered uneasily.
Natsu looked her up and down with his arms crossed. "...You are huh? " He sneered at her, disbelief in his sarcastic tone.
Lucy then looked down at her outfit and realized she was still barefoot and in her nightgown. She hunched over and moans in anger. "Ugh-Well... Actually I'm the–"
"Look sweetheart, if you don't want to tell me it's fine." Natsu shrugged. "But the least you can do is give me a name."
Lucy looked down at her feet, twisting them inwards towards each other as she hesitated to speak. "M-my name..." She held her breath and forced the words out
"is Lucy."
