Forbidden Mage

Chapter 6

"Ohhh you want to know what magic I use!?" Natsu chuckled, crossing his arms and pointing his nose into the air. "Hm I not sure I want to answer that though." He then stuck his tongue out to Lucy, throwing in an aggravating wink.

Lucy was just about ready to yell at the idiot when they heard some guards coming their way off in the distance. Natsu quickly rose to his feet, snapping his gaze over to the other end of the hall and back down to Lucy. "Shit!" Looking around the hallway he hissed at Lucy to go hide around the corner and to not make a sound. She did as she was told as the guards entered the room. Natsu's face turned more serious and daunting than what he had ever expressed to Lucy before.

The men all circled around the cell gate and began to threaten him with their swords. One of the guards unlocked the cell, holding more chains in his hands. Natsu stood on defense as the men closed in on him.

"Oie! Bastards! What the hell do you think you're doi-"

One of the guards then took his sheathed sword and beat it onto Natsu's left shin causing him to throw his head back crying out in pain and fall to his hands and knees.

"Behave yourself mage!"

Lucy hands covered her mouth as she felt her stomach drop. She could see the pain that consumed Natsu's body. The face he was making was one she never wanted to see anyone make again.

"Rise boy! You're coming with us!" The guard spat, but Natsu didn't move. He stayed hunched over on all fours, biting his bottom lip to focus the pain elsewhere. The guard grit his teeth and drew his leg back. "Hey! Are you stupid!? I said RISE!" And with that the guard kicked Natsu in the stomach. The pressure of the man's blow threw Natsu back against the wall and left him motionless laying on his side.

Lucy had covered her eyes before the guard struck Natsu. However, she could still hear the sound of him coughing up blood and spit. While this seemed to greatly amuse the guards, Lucy could barely handle it.

"Fuck..." Natsu muttered under his breath. Wiping his mouth with one hand and grabbing his stomach with the other, Natsu sits up onto his knees and peers through the guard's legs. He could she Lucy peeking around the corner with a worried look. She was about to step closer when he gave her a small smile.

The smile was rigid and weak but she knew what it meant. To stay away and not to worry about him. She nodded at him and stayed where she was continuing to watch helplessly. Natsu stood up, glaring at the guard that had just beaten him. The man smirked at his demeanor, applauding Natsu for making the right choice and giving in. They doubled the cuffs on his ankles, added metal like gloves covering his hands, and one thick cuff around his neck. When they put the neck chain on they yanked off the white scarf Lucy always saw him wearing.

"HEY!!! YOU GUYS SAID I COULD KEEP THAT! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?" Natsu lunged toward the guard that was holding his scarf but the chains - barely even allowing him to walk - prevented him. Natsu continued to scream as the guards dragged him out of his cell and then out of the prison.

Leaving Lucy alone in the uncomfortably quiet hallway.
