Chapter 6

A/N: Been a while eh? Well, here is a short chapter. I'm sure the next one will be a bit longer with a bit more "action". Anyways, enjoy.

Lauren’s POV

“So what movie are we watching?” Clark asked as he sat down on the couch after walking into the apartment.

“Hmm I was thinking some chick flick like, the Notebook or something!” Clark scrunched his nose up in disgust and I laughed slightly. I simply shook my head and walked past him to my room to change. After putting on sweatpants and a shirt, and replacing my contacts with glasses, I headed back into the living room to find Clark on his phone. Smiling, I walked over to the movies and picked up the Notebook.

“Really? You’re going to make me watch this?” he teased with a smile. I nodded and put it in the DVD player before sitting down next to him. Silently, I curled my feet up on the couch and leaned against Clarks shoulder. He nonchalantly threw an arm over my shoulders and I readjusted myself to be comfortable. As the movie began, my eyelids began to drop. Right as I was about to fall completely asleep, a loud noise at the door woke me right back up.

“Lauren? Are you back y… Oh. Hi Clark!” Jaime stumbled as she walked in. “Didn’t expect to see you here!”

“Well Lo and I went to get coffee and we decided to come back to watch a movie!” he replied quickly. Julia giggled as Jaime slowly nodded. I glared at her. She backed away with her arms up in defense. A smile slowly spread across my face.

“So I guess we will leave you two to your movie! We’ll be out of here in about ten minutes!” Julia said with a slight wink. I rolled my eyes at the two who dashed quickly back to their rooms. I focused my attention back on the movie and readjusted myself to be comfortable. Within ten minutes, Jaime and Julia had both changed and were on their way out of the apartment.

“See ya later Lo! We’ll be at Denise’s tonight if you need us! Bye Clark!” Julia called as they walked out of the door. We slightly waved and turned back to the movie. It took all of twenty minutes before my eyelids began dropping again and I fell into a very peaceful sleep.

“Lo? Lo!” a voice called. My eyes fluttered open to see the face of Clark still in the same spot he had been when I had fallen asleep. “Well hello sleepyhead! I thought you’d appreciate me waking you up for dinner!”

I slowly sat up and looked around only to discover it was almost seven. I glanced over at Clark to see him watching me carefully. I attempted to suppress a giggle but failed and ended up in a fit of laughter. Clark smiled and began laughing along with me. After a good five minutes, we had finally settled down enough to walk to the kitchen and decide on simply baking a gluten-free frozen pizza.

“So, do you feel any better now that you’ve had some sleep?” I nodded while sitting on the kitchen counter; Clark sat in one of the dining room chairs. He smiled up at me. “Good!”

“I guess so! But I don’t know what I’m going to do about him being here tomorrow…” I  trailed off looking down at the floor.

“Hey, look at me,” he said. I looked up and saw him staring straight into my eyes. “You don’t have to talk to him. It’s your choice. But I’ll be right here for you okay?”

I nodded silently and looked down at my folded hands. I really did miss Joey’s large hand intertwined with mine. I missed sitting in his lap watching movies. I missed the crazy and adorable dates he would take me on. I missed it all so much. I missed him.

Joey’s POV

I watched as the city of LA flew by on our way to LAX. I anxiously squirmed in the seat as we drew nearer and nearer. Brian looked over at me with an expression as if to ask “Are you okay?” I shook my head slightly and he sighed quietly.

“You two are awfully quiet back there. You okay?” Jordan asked from the driver’s seat. However, I just continued to stare out the window as Brian answered for the both of us.

“Yeah, it’s just been a long day for us both.” Brian sighed almost sadly making me look up and stare at him. It was then that I noticed his sorrowful expression and quietly pulled out my phone.

Joey: Bri, what’s wrong?

Upon receiving and reading the text message, Brian looked up at me, then back at his phone to begin typing.

Brian: Nothing really. Don’t worry about it.

As I read it, I pursed my lips. I could always tell when he was lying.

Joey: Seriously man. What’s wrong? And don’t give me the “nothing” bullshit.

Brian: I’ll tell you when we get to the airport.

I locked my phone and directed my attention back out the window. We were extremely close to the airport by now. I could see the large white letters in front of us, growing closer with each passing second. Everything was falling into place so far. I’d be in Chicago in a few hours and I’d be able to talk to Lauren. Everything would be just fine.

Or so I hoped.
