She follows me into the howling wind of the night. The sound of violent waves thrashing, clashing on the sand. The moon is high and at its peak, it's bright light illuminating her face. I run away playfully laughing from her, her smile fills me with warmth like the sun. She catches up to me and grabs my hand, her hand is cold to the touch now warming in mine. We walk alongside the shore letting the salty wind and cool mist of the ocean water cast its spell on us, putting us in a trance. Our emotions heighten and we collide in a warm embrace. I reach for her face, but she turns away from me. I try to draw her in closer, but she lets go of my hang letting it drop. She touches my face and gives me a solemn look of regret. She turns and starts to walk away. I run after her, but every step I take I sink farther and farther in the sand. I scream out to her, but nothing but a silent whisper appears to come out. My screams of heartache and pain are muffled by the thrashing ocean waves. I watch her silhouette walk farther away from me and I try to claw my way out of the sand, but it only makes me sink quicker until my whole body is submerged. I try to cry out to her, but the sand fills my lungs and I realize I'm suffocating, but that's what love does to you. --- Rose's Diary of Poems----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I look out the window at the suns final glow in the sky, it falls behind its curtain of trees in which it sleeps until its awaken again tomorrow. I get out of my Pajama's and take a shower to wash the smell of blood out of my hair. The funny thing about vampires is, all of us smell like one distinct scent forever. I am so grateful that mine smells like sweet vanilla and blood and not like sweat. I walk over to my closet of armor and capes (yes its a real thing) to pick out my outfit for the day. I go with a red samurai set of armor and a black cape I acquired in one of my travels to Japan. I had to play a man in a hand of poker to get it and boy was he mad when I won. He said it was a relic of his families passed down throughout the generations, so loosing it was a big deal. He came at me with a group of his friends and might I say it was quite fun. They threw glass bottles of the beer they had that night at my head and cut me, but my wounds heel at an astonishing rate, so once they picked up on the idea I wasn't "normal" the real fun began. Part of the fun of being a vampire is the chase of your desired kill, the look of true fear in the eyes of your victim is the most pleasing part. So, the men took off down a nearby alley and I began to use my powers. As a vampire you are allotted one special gift you acquire when you're born, the power of air, fire, earth, water, mind, body, or death manipulation, unless you are the commander. Then you are born with the gifts of all seven powers as well as fast healing and intelligence, thus making you the ultimate killing machine. I decided to use the power of mind against these men and I made them think that I was gone. Then I snuck my way to them and used wind to push them together. I finally struck and grabbed the first man, looking in his eyes and saying my infamous words, "You're not going to run or scream." The other men started to run a away but I made a circle of fire at their feet to keep them in place. I smiled at them, my sharp fangs drew them in making them memorized with every word I said. One man spoke up, his voice was very shaky, "Mi..mi...miss.. you can..can keep the armor. Just... pl..please.. let us go." I flashed him a smile and dug my fangs into his friends neck, draining him of blood in an instant. I looked at the second man, there were three in total minus the one I just killed, I made him come to me. I bit into his neck less dramatically this time and let his blood slowly fall into my mouth. The last man, the man in which started this whole fiasco, realized he was next to die and actually began to cry. I dropped his friends corpse to the ground and looked at him with residual blood leaking out of my mouth. I began to speak, "Well, well, well last but not least, the man who started it all. Enlighten me sir, by what do you go by? If I am to kill you last, I must know the name in which I kill." He looked at the other corpses, "What about those men? You killed them, but got no names." I let out a wicked laugh and licked my bloody fangs, "Well you see sir, they were merely just a hmmm.. shall we say, inconvenience in my plans to kill you. You're the one who brought those men into this quite unfortunate situation you've gotten yourself into. I wasn't planning on killing anyone tonight, but you just had to gamble off your armor, didn't you? Why I bet scum like you won't be missed at all. I mean who really will miss a man who would gamble, not even sell, but gamble a family relic. Why that's most unfortunate and quite sad honestly." He looked at me will rage boiling in his black eyes, I saw nothing but hate. After an a long silence he spoke, "You vile, filthy, animal, and BITCH of a thing. You slaughter two men without a care in the world and play with me like prey. I WILL NOT give you my name. You are just a girl anyways! A lowlife, worthless piece of space! What even are you?" I am done with playing games and I decide that he is right. I say, "Why dear, you're only making your situation worse. I will get your name and then kill you, but since you asked I am Commander Rose Demetrious of the Seven Vampire Clans. Now, who are you?" He looked at me now in shock, "You're real... I've heard stories of a ruthless, blonde vampire ruler with eyes the color of blood and fangs sharper than scalpels. She can bend the elements as well as the body and soul. She draws you in with her beauty, but she's the devil in disguise. She is 'Regina Sanguine', the blood queen. I, Kazuto Hikito, in the presence of you." I smile, "Yes you are Mr. Kazuto, now it's time to die." His face drops from bewilderment to fear in seconds, "Don't worry, i'll kill you quick as you seem to regret what you previously said." Then I drained his body and walked out of the alley while setting their corpses on fire. I smile at my recalled memory, it was a long time since I heard "Regina Sanguine." I finish getting ready by putting on my warpaint around my red eyes. I take a look out the window once more and see that tonight is a crescent moon, my favorite. Then it's time to start my day and I go to the dining hall to receive news in my world of vampires and my gauntlet full of blood. I walk into the room and all eyes are cast to me and my subjects bow. I say, "Rise. Any news for me?" Then one of my ambassadors named Alexandra spoke and said, "Yes Commander, there is news of a disturbance in Earth Clan. A vampire body has showed up and it has...wolf bites on their neck." I am immediately angry, the werewolves have been causing vampires trouble as long as I've been alive. I down my glass of blood and announce, "Everyone get your weapons and armor on, we're going to Earth Clan. I have had enough of these wolves!" I run to my room and put on my sword holder, slip my swords in, and grab my samurai helmet. Everyone meets me in the front of the castle's gate armed and ready to kill. "Alright everyone the wolves are dangerous, so everyone move in pairs and don't stray from the group. Isabel, you're with me, everyone else pair up." I run before everyone and lead the way to Earth Clan, Isabel is not far from me. We arrive to a scene of chaos as all of Earth clan is around the body. There is shouting coming from all places in the town, people yelling "Vladimir killed her! Vlad killed Marcy!", but it turns to nothing but whispers as I approach. I walk to the podium in front of everyone, "Citizens, I know you are frightened by the recent death brought forth by the wolves, but I can assure you as your Commander, there is nothing to fear any longer. I will take care of the matter." The sea of fangs and faces are lit up by the casting glows of the nearby torches that are lighting up the village. "Ambassadors each grab a group of Citizens and take them back to the castle in which they will stay indefinitely, so they will be protected and feel safe. Citizens quickly gather the items you want to bring. You will return to this village, but until this ordeal is resolved with the wolves, you will stay in C wing of the castle." I can hear the excitement of the little vampire children as they hear the news that they're staying in my castle. They don't fully understand the seriousness of this situation, their innocent minds still oblivious to life's harshness. Sometimes I wish I could go back to the simplicity of being a child; I only had to look up to the previous Commander training me and abide by his wishes. The horrible and vile cards life draws for you are not yet open to your viewing eyes. Sometimes I wish I was once more in love with a girl. Their sweet kisses and kind eyes where you can see nothing but their love for you. How silly was I? I was an ignorant fool to believe life would be all stars and full moons, but now I've learned that love is weakness and to be a great Commander, you need to forget about your feelings and use your head. The town clears fairly quickly and I could finally get a good look at the body. I immediately recognize her to be Marcy Schilling, she was my mothers friend and a good lady; she didn't deserve this. There is a wolfs bite on her neck and lacerations from claws all over body, poor Marcy didn't stand a chance even with her powers. "Isabel please wrap up Marcy's body with cloth and take her back to the castle. I'll be there in a few hours, but I have business to attend to with Vladimir." She looks at me with fear in her eyes, "Are you sure you don't want me to escort you Commander?" I nod and she proceeds to her duties. I made sure she returns safely and then embark on my journey to Vladimir's House. I walk instead of my usual run to places, so I could gather my thoughts regarding Marcy and what I'd say to Vladimir. I finally reach the smelly, vine ridden village and walk through the streets; my head held high. All the wolves look at me with hard looks and some even growl at me. I just smile at them with my long fangs protruding.I finally reach Vladimir's front door and give a hard knock and the door swings open to a view of girls gathered around him. I walk in and take my helmet off letting my long, blonde hair flow down my back. He stares at me doing this and gets up walking over to greet me. He smiles at me and his wolf fangs catch my eye. He clears his voice and speaks to me in his deep voice, "Why hello Commander Rose, what a true delight it is to see such a beautiful woman walk into my house at this fine hour. Can I help you with something? Would you like some hot tea? Oh wait, I forgot you can't drink hot tea I'm sorry." I smile at him, his eyes trace every inch of my face and my fangs, making me uncomfortable. I'm the only girl that doesn't swoon over him or find him in the least bit attractive. I'm his challenge and since I'm gay he can't stand not having me. I finally break the weird silence by getting right down to business, "Yes Vladimir, there was a killing of one of my vampires, Marcy Schilling down in Earth Clan and it was by a werewolf. What do you know of this?" He scratches his stubbly grey chin and runs his hands through his spiked up hair indicating that he was thinking. "Hmm yes I see Rose, well you see this is news to me as well, so I can help you find out who did it and punish them to full extent of the law. I don't want this one mistake to affect out peace agreement." I nod and agree, I can sense he has a hidden agenda regarding his plans with Marcy and "the law", but I decide to not further question him and maybe do some investigating of my own tomorrow. He talks again, "You know Rose, the sun is about to come up soon and I know how bad that is for you. It must be hard having to live in the shadows all the time. Why don't you stay with me for the day, you can sleep in my room." I knew it, he doesn't care about my vampires he just wants to sleep with me. Damn wolves, you can't ever trust them. I speak, "Thank you Vladimir, but I must decline I have to be heading back to my castle." His girls giggle behind him and he has an angry look on his face, I embarrassed him in front of his "toys." He grabs my wrist and tries to kiss me, my Commander training kicks in and I slam him on the ground hovering my fist above his head. Then I get up, brush off my armor, slip my helmet on and leave. I start walking down the street and then I feel a searing pain arms and face. I realize what was happening, the sun was already out. I start to panic and look around, but there wasn't any shaded areas I could hide under, only houses full of wolves that would love to tear my throat out. My arms start to bleed and I'm really worried. I can't make it back to the castle in time without bursting into flames along the way. Then I hear it a whisper. "Pssssss... psssss... Commander in here, I'll help you." It was a girl calling for me to sneak into her window and I had no other option, so I run as fast as I can and lunge myself into her room. She immediately closes the window and I'm welcomed by the cool, darkened atmosphere of her bedroom. I pull off my helmet and close my eyes as my wounds heal. I can hear her gasp and I open my eyes to her staring at me. She says, "I'm sorry Commander, I've just never seen a vampire this close. We learn you guys are evil in school, but you don't seem so bad to me." I smile and she gasps again, I realize I must be like an alien to her. I say to her, "We're not evil, we're just a very different species than most." She smiles at me and then it hits me, this girl is extremely beautiful. She has long black hair with little curls, glowing electric green eyes, and a perfect face. I suddenly feel odd in the her presence. She notices me look down, so she speaks again,"What is it? What's wrong? What did I do?" I smile, "You didn't do anything wrong, but I don't want you to get in trouble because I'm here. Wolves hate my kind, me especially." I look at her again, she has very kind eyes. "I wanted to help you, I couldn't just sit and watch you burn. I may be taught that vampires are vile creatures, but I don't believe it. You've been in my room for about ten minutes and haven't attacked me like we learn you would. I can see the rumors about your kind are untrue; the rumors about you." I rub my hands in my hair because I'm frustrated, "The rumors about me will probably be correct or at least hold a sliver of truth. I'm not a very kind person, I have no room to be kind, its not a Commanders job." She got up and sat down next to me on her bed, she looked at me with the most sincere look that no one has ever given me in a long time. Then she said, "I see, but that still doesn't change my impression of you. To me, you just seem like a lost soul put into a position she always has to be poised in. You're so hard and ruthless because that's what you have to be, but not what you want to be. You want to let loose and just enjoy your eternal life sometimes, but you can't." I look at her and she stares at me back, how can a girl I just met make these accurate assumptions of me? I finally smile, "What is your name and how old are you because I've never met a wolf so brave to talk to me this way before?" She smiled at me, got up, and said, "Can I show you something Commander?" She holds out her hand to me to lead me into the unknown of her ideas, do I take the risk, why not, only sunlight can kill me. I grab her soft hand and she leads me to a corner of her room, she kicks a mat aside and I can see a door that leads to somewhere underneath her room. She opens the door and says, "Follow me" then she descends into the unknown and I follow. I hit the floor at the bottom of a pitch black room, I can hear her shuffling to find something. She appears to give up looking, so I ask her the cause of her troubles. She replies, "This is my secret room not even my parents have found. I put a hex on the door so only eyes I want to see can see it, but you're the first I've shown. Although, I can't show you if I can't find the matches to light the candles." I smile, then I light my hand on fire and she gasps, I can see the candles and I light them for her. She takes my other hand to look at and examines it, but then I recall, she put a hex on a door and she's a wolf, how? She speaks, "How did you do that? I didn't know you could do that. Why didn't they teach us that at the university?" The room finally illuminates and I can see a couch in the middle of a room full of candelabras and large bookshelves completely full. I can tell this room is very special to her, it holds a lot of memories and emotions. I drop her hand to look around and examine the books, she has everything about everything. She has books about witches to dragons to combat to romance, literally everything.. well almost. She has no books about vampires, but I guess she can't they're not allowed in werewolf territory. I can tell that this girl is very very smart and I turn around to look at her again, i'm very impressed and she smiles. I look at the room some more and I spot a parchment on the ground with her exquisite calligraphy on it. She sees me looking at it and she gets a panicked look on her face. She rushes over to the paper, but I use vampire speed and reach it before her. I start to read it and her hesitancy to tell me who she is becomes clear. She's Vladimir's daughter, Alice Farkas, she's next to rule the wolves....she's an Alpha and on her 21 birthday she will become Queen. I drop the letter and she has a very sad look on her face, I sit down on her couch. "You know helping me Alice, it's treason. Why did you help me, you out of all people are supposed to hate vampires." I look directly at her and say, "you're supposed to hate me." She tells me, "I was scared to tell you who I was for good reason, you're supposed to hate me. I am supposed to hate you, but I couldn't just let you burn. You just do what's best for your people and I understand that, there's nothing sinister about it. I understand that if my people cause your people trouble, then its your duty as Commander to fix it. Rose you're dangerous, but i'm not scared of you like I should be, you're just a mystery. I have never met a vampire before you, my dad doesn't allow it even though I am going to rule the wolves. I can learn a lot from you and you me, so maybe we can help one another out. I don't want to be like my father, I actually want to be a good ruler and help my people. He only cares about causing mischief and his women. I want to change the way vampires view us, but I can't do that without your help. I know what I'm asking is treason, but how can I rule without knowing my supposed biggest enemy, or Allie when I become Queen? I can't, so will you help me?" She makes good points and seems to be very passionate about what she's saying. Also she's different than any wolf I have ever met, she actually wants to create peace instead of more violence. Most wolves would spit in my face and let me burn. I say, "Alright Alice, I believe you and I'll help you, but you have to help me. One of your wolves has killed one of my vampires and I can't let this stand. Blood must be shed for her and her families lost. Your father won't help me, all he wants is me to sleep with him." She has an angry expression on her face when she hears the last sentence as she knows its true. She says, "I know, you're all he talks about, the only woman that doesn't want him. He truly disgusts me sometimes. I'll help you, I understand you need justice." I smile and then I yawn as my body realizes it is daytime. She smiles at me, her white wolf fangs catch my eyes. Then she says, "I forget about your sleeping pattern, I suppose I should let you sleep." Then she grabs a book to read and sits at the end of the her couch in which I lay down on. I smile at her and say, "Thank you for saving my life Alice, I am truly grateful." She smiles and continues to read without saying anything. My sleep deprivation finally gets the best of me and I finally fall into a deep, peaceful rest with her at my feet reading.
