The piloteer came up on the wreckage, struggling to stay on course with the massive amounts of solar winds the Kuiper belt seemed to draw near.
"Alright, JJ's in sights." said Caesar with a jolt.
"Where, where?" Rex spat as he was falling asleep from his unforgettable night.
"I can't see shit through the glass but the scans are picking up the pods distress beacons," the Jilkon looked sideways through the glass to see the massive debris field. "15,000 people." is all he could manage to say at the horrendous loss of life.
Nessa woke suddenly from her nap."What, what we found them?"
"Yup," said Caesar as he aimed the tractor beam. "Got em in range without even passing Oosher's county line."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Um Mr. Listion, this doesn't really tell us what happened to Rex and/or Nessa" said the interviewer to Caesar.
"Um, yeah well if you want to get the story you'll listen the whole fucking time! Dammit I hate when people come to interview me and all they want is the facts, well your going to have to listen to the whole thing because I haven't had anyone listen to me the whole time and I'm wanting to tell my story", I said. I was the only person known to have survived, Caesar Listion. Rex was the only one who could have been... been... Well I guess it could only have been me. They were surrounded. Even if I was to have distracted them...I could've done something. I could have helped someone...
"Only one..." I said allowed, and stared into the distance outside the window. It had struck Mars too. It seemed only Earth was safe from this filth. "Only me."
"What? D'you say something kid?"questioned the larger interviewer, Tom, as he had said earlier.
"No. I guess... I'm just being... Regretting some past decisions, that's all." I said.
"Oh, well , I guess we can take a small break for a while let you cool down and refresh." Said the smaller interviewer, Lenard. "We just really need to know what happened. Their families need some closure. Or what's left of their families, anyway." said Tom being related to one of the last survivors of P90 he wanted to tell his family personally.
"Ok I guess gimme five guys. I'll settle down." I said, content on telling the real story, not just what they wanted to hear.
"Yeah, ok kid." said Tom.
From the discolored, overused, bloodstained hospital infirmary bed, I stood up as the two men left the room to get, possibly there last, cup of coffee on the planet, I thought to myself. I shut the door behind them. I immediately went to the toilet to throw up. The infection made me queasy and the, cure made it no better. Wasn't even really a cure more of a temp or treatment really there was no cure as far as I new. Mars was where most of the medical records and research in the part of the galaxy took place. Completely losing it would be a hard blow to the efforts of every race committed to living, laughing, and loving in this solar system.
I then got a cup of water and downed some more pain pills. I couldn't tell if it was the 'cure' or the infection itself but every square inch of my body hurt.
After that I drifted into a small nap before they came back with their cups of coffee. There wasn't much left to eat hardly anywhere, but they had about a gallon of coffee per person and corpse. They even got me some green tea.
"I was gonna grab you a bottle of orange juice, but by the time we got through this was all they had. Or prune juice and I figured you'd probably like this at least a little compared to that." said Lenard. He was an older man. The tone in his voice suggested he had children close to my age, and I was grateful he cared enough about me to get me care about my well being.
"Thanks," I said. I didn't like green tea but anywhere that still ran a cash register had prices shoot through the roof, so I drank it with gumption.
"So as I was saying......."
