A few hours later, it was time to leave work for home. I had already packed my things, so I took the elevator down. On my way to the exit....well already at the exit, Sebastien came and stood right in front of me. How I just wanted to get rid of him immediately but I decided to quit acting like a child and speak to him.

"What did I do wrong?" Sebastien asked.

"What you did wrong? You did and do everything wrong?" I said and paused for a while before continuing.

"Yesterday morning, I saw you with your wife and kid. Well, I didn't think they were until I saw you kiss her on the lips. Meanwhile, you had been treating me like you wanted something more than friendship from us. So what's your excuse?"

I guess he was surprised that I saw what happened. I mean who thinks he can cheat and still play around with his wife and kid at the same place he works.

"She's not my wife. I met her a year ago and that's her kid from her previous marriage. We were dating before and I agree I led you on and did something else yesterday but seriously that's just it. We aren't together anymore. I swear."

"Lies! All lies! You know, I thought you were smart but oh boy! I was totally wrong. Nice to meet you, Mr. Sebastien" I ended my conversation with him then and there and walked out of his sight, not looking back. He didn't dare go after me. I was happy I had gotten it all out.

A fews day later....

It was a Sunday afternoon and I had just gotten back from church when my phone rang.

"Usuku uluhle, ma" I said, saying good day to my mum in Zulu when I picked the call.

I spoke to my mum for a while and she asked a lot of questions. From when I would be coming home to visit, to who I would be bringing along. Yeah, my mum was like that. I laughed it off and told her that we would talk about it later.

After I ended the call, I decided to take a walk down my neighbourhood. I walked just a few blocks from my apartment when I thought to retire and head back home. It was a pretty normal Sunday for me. I didn't do much except rest and then prepare for work the next day.

When I got to the office the next day, Angela the receptionist gave me a card that she said was from Sebastien. I collected it and threw it into the bin. I even got to ask her if he was always like this and this was her reply;

"He is always like this with every new female employee"

Just what I wanted to confirm. I closed any chapter that I would have started with Sebastien and decided to be the focused woman I wanted to be. "When God has planned it all, then it will be well." I said that to myself believing that everything happens for a reason. That day, I think I was brighter than I always have. I got a lot of work done and was very happy with myself.

Later in the evening, just before it was time for my shift to be over, I got a call from my boss again. He said to report to his office immediately. On getting there, he asked me to have a seat in which I did.

"We would be going for a little trip" he started.

I thought I didn't hear properly. "We? trip?" I thought to myself until he said;

"A business trip. We all have to attend the business conference that would take place next week Monday. I know it's still in a week's time but I just wanted to let you know so you can be prepared. I would be speaking to the rest who would be joining us. There would still be information passed on concerning the trip. I hope you don't have any plans for the weekend as we would be leaving by Friday, Miss Adams."

"Oh yes sure, I don't have plans."

"Okay. That's good then. I will see you later."

I stood up and walked out silently.
