(Jordan - third person)

•"Rose." Jordan said, his voice catching. "I'm scared."•

The next day in physics, Rose told Jordan about a funfair that was open for the winter, only a short train ride away from campus. It's true, funfairs had never been Jordan's thing but he wanted to spend more time with Rose so agreed to go that Friday night.

So there they were, standing in the queue for a ride called "the drop." Similar to disneyland's tower of terror but much, much worse. While Rose was practically jumping up and down with excitement, Jordan stood back, pale as he listened to the screams from riders splitting the calm air. He gulped. Why had he agreed to do this? Was there still time to go back? Could he leave Rose by herself on the rise? He felt sick. As they grew closer to the front of the line, Jordan's heart began to beat faster and faster. He was ready to turn back. He was going to back out. Just as he cleared his throat to say he couldn't do it, Rose slipped her hand into his. Instantly Jordan felt calm. If he was ever going to do this, now was the time.

Within minutes, they had been strapped onto the ride and were gradually getting higher and higher. It was as if the whole world was stretched out before Jordan's eyes. At halfway, he stopped taking. This was a mistake. A huge, huge mistake.
"Jordan," Rose asked. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah." He stuttered.
"Is it because we're high up?"
"It's not so much the height... More the drop."
Rose squeezed Jordan's hand tightly, it was only then that he noticed she had never let go of it.
They were at the top.

The ride waited, suspense building as the seconds stretched out into infinity. "Rose." Jordan said, his voice catching. "I'm scared." Jordan's eyes were begging to tear up. He could feel the lump gradually rising in his throat. Help.
"It's okay." Rose comforted. "Just close your eyes, it will be over before you know it."
"I don't want to close them."
"Then look at me." She replied.
He breathed out slowly. Gripping Rose's hand tightly within his own. Any second now they would...
//
The ride plummeted.
//
"You we're so cute Jordan!" Rose exclaimed through adrenaline fuelled fits of giggles as they staggered off the ride.
Jordan had screamed most of the way down, and Rose had spent most of the time laughing at him.
In response to Rose's statement, Jordan just looked at her.
"Fine." She said. "I'll drop it, but you've got to admit, that was fun."
Jordan looked down to where their hands still held one another, embarrassed.
"Alright." He said, giving in. "Maybe just a little.
Rose cheered.
"Can we go on something a little more calm now?" Jordan asked. Looking at Rose with exaggerated pleading eyes.
"Okay". She said. A smile spreading across her face.
"Ferris wheel?" Jordan suggested.
"Race you!" Rose answered.
