why did he die?

I wish it played out the nomal way but Ron tries to kill himself but carl stops him but he's to late he pulls the trigger but it shoots Carl's eye instead. It goes down the same way they kill all the walkers. His comic book counterpart is younger so he's a complete diffrent character so I think he should have survived he past down his death to Sam and Jessie in the comic book it was ron and Jessie but sam died the way ron did in the comic book.
