Chapter 1 - The Light in His Eyes

"What are you doing?" Dan asked Phil, laughing and covering his face with his hands.

"I'm giving it a hug." Phil had picked up a stuffed animal in the shop and wrapped his arms around it.

"Good lord, Phil." Dan leaned in and kissed Phil on the cheek. "I love you anyway."

It was their first week off after continuous months of The Amazing Tour is Not on Fire. It was fun, but they hadn't gotten any alone time for a while. They decided to take a weekend just for them, so they went to all of their favorite shops together.

"This is cute! Can we buy it?" Phil's opinion was that if it was cute, it should be bought. Dan always just shook his head, but let him buy it anyway. It was all crap, but it made Phil happy.

When they got home, they unloaded their goods and turned on the television. One of their favorite animes, Death Note, was on and Dan made popcorn as Phil changed into pajamas. Phil hadn't seen the whole series, but Dan had. However, he spoiled nothing as Phil watched happily. He stared at Phil, who had a small smile and an innocent look in his eyes as he watched the animated characters dance across the screen. Dan was so in love; he couldn't believe they had spent all of those years as only friends. They were meant to be.

Meanwhile, Phil, who was on the inside of the couch cuddled up to Dan, was mesmerized by the characters on the television. It made him think about what a joy it was to be alive, hugging his favorite person in the world. He buried his face deeper into Dan's chest, feeling the warmth of Dan's Totoro shirt against his cheek. 'God, I love this boy,' he thought. It was a wonderful feeling; he felt warm and fuzzy on the inside and outside. When the anime got boring, he fell asleep like this- right next to the love of his life.

They woke up around 3 am, still on the couch and the TV showing an animated Japanese lady with minimal clothes on. Eventually, they had to go to bed.

"Dan, I don't want to feel lonely tonight. Can I sleep with you, um, in your bed?"

Dan wrapped his arms around him. "You can sleep in my bed any time you want. I love you." Phil gave a slight smile and closed his eyes. "I love you too."

And they fell asleep.
