Chapter Thirty-Four
Maya Hart

"Yo, yo, yo! You are listening to the Lisa and Larry Show on 96.3 COOL Radio, where we bring you today's freshest hits!" The man, Larry, on the radio exclaimed.

It was now around 12:00 on Friday, March 25th, and I was lying down on my bed, chilling in my room. Of course, my mom was at work, and not at home. But that doesn't matter. She's not there for me much anyways. And even though I still love her, I can't stand to have a full conversation with her anymore. Knowing that she's homophobic and would kick me out if she found out that Riley and I are dating upsets me. But like I said, none of that really matters right now. I was in such a happy mood that I decided to play music on my phone. Riley seems to be really happy with the bunnies that I got her. Making my girl happy makes me even happier! COOL Radio is one of my favorite radio stations. I have been listening to it ever since I was really little. A couple of years ago, COOL radio came out with their own mobile app, which lets you listen to their station right from your phone.

"Aw, come on, Lisa and Larry!" I whined, "I'm not in the mood to hear ya yap on about the latest celebrity gossip or whatever! I wanna listen to songs!"

I let out a loud groan. "I guess I'll just have to put on Pandora or Spotify."

Just as I was about to exit from the COOL Radio App, the woman, Lisa, on the radio said, "Yeah, you got that right, Larry! And today, we are extra excited because we are giving away a free trip, on us of course."

I stopped to listen. A free trip? A trip to where?

"Yes, you heard her right, folks!" Larry began, "We are giving away a free trip to you and all of your friends to Europe! On this trip, you will visit numerous countries in Europe, such as, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Ireland!"

My heart began to pound out of excitement.

"Europe?" I thought to myself, "Riley wants to go backpacking through Europe! If I win this trip, we could cross another thing off her bucket list!"

"And all you have to do is be lucky caller number ten and know the answer to this riddle:," Lisa began, "In silence, I am annoying, but in time, you'll find that you need me."

"Heh, that sounds like my alarm clock," I thought to myself, "It can be quite annoying in the morning when things are quiet, but without it, Riley and I would both be late to school! I pick her up at 7:00 each morning, and if I were to be late one morning, she would wait for me!"

My eyes widened as I let out a gasp. "I KNOW THE ANSWER!!! IT'S 'ALARM CLOCK'!!!"

"So if you wanna go to Europe, think you know the answer, think you can win, and have a passport, call us at 1-800-COOL-RADIO!" Larry told their audience.

My heart sank. Passports. I forgot all about passports!

"Do I have a passport?" I asked myself in my head. I thought for a quick moment.

"Maya, you do have a passport!" My consciousness told me, "Remember when the Matthews took you to Mexico for a week with them when you and Riley were in 6th grade? They were kind enough to buy you a passport since you did not have one already! They had to get Riley one at the same time, and passports take five years to expire for minors, so you and Riley should still be good! Heck, Riley's family should still be good too!"
