michael and luke had lived next door to one another for as long as they could remember. in elementary school they were best friends and went on little "adventures" all over their small neighborhood, but at the age of 7 everyone was friends with one another. at the start of middle school they remained friends because neither boy knew many other people at their new, larger school. not long after, however, they developed different interests and and drifted apart from one another. in high school they would occasionally have a short, awkward, conversation but at that point they were basically strangers. neither boy expected them to become friends again, but then again the future is unpredictable.
