As the wolf walked through the forest the presence of many creatures was evident to him, he could hear birds chirping in the distance, smell rabbits running through a nearby field, he could sense -he didn't know what could sense, it was like a human but the buzzing was stronger, more shrill it was hurting Wolf's ears but yet he felt drawn to it, yet the closer he got the higher the buzzing became it was so unbearable yet he felt even worse to be away from it.
Wolf tried to ignore the noise for a couple of days but his curiosity got the better of him and he decided he could put up with the pain.
He travelled to the end of his woodland but the buzzing was only mildly stronger, if he wanted to follow it further it would mean using his human form, something which he hated doing but the pull was too strong he had to find what was causing him such annoyance so he hid behind a tree, stood on his hind legs and slowly but surely his matted brown furry coat turned to rough, tanned skin, shaggy brown hair and peasant clothes typical to the era. The only thing that remained the same was his soul reaching brown eyes.
He stumbled through the surrounding countryside, he could never get used to walking upright. As a human he normally lost his heightened senses but the buzzing was still there, as strong as ever.
This both frightened and relived Wolf.
As he walked through the village he didn't need his special intuition to tell him what the people were thinking, it was clear from their faces the not many strangers pass through these parts. He was getting a few admiring and interested looks from the girls and women around the market but it was overshadowed by the hostility radiating from the men. The taut facial expressions and defensive stance from the males made it clear he wasn't welcome. Wolf quickened his pace wanting to get away from the possible imposing threat.
Wolf stayed human until he was deep into the forest once again, when he was certain there was nobody within viewing range he changed back into his preferred state. Being back on his four steady paws he began to run in the direction of the noise.
He was galloping for more than three hours before he realised the noise began to fade, it was moving in another direction, Wolf sighed and changed his direction to match that of the noise, he was exhausted but he couldn't stop.
He ran for three days straight, mainly in circles trying to keep up with the noises movements stopping only to eat and drink.
By third day he was so drained he just had to stop and rest. Wolf was enjoying a well deserved nap under the shadow of a large oak tree on the edge of a meadow when the what was a strong buzz became an almighty head ache. The head ache was so bad it woke him up, as you can imagine Wolf wasn't to best pleased, he opened his eyes and growled, stretching out his two front paws.
It was only then that he noticed the little girl in a red cloak picking flowers at the edge of the meadow.
