Fitz paced around his large, elegantly designed bedroom, his feet leaving an imprint in his soft, navy rug. He sighed heavily and ran a hand through his dark, brown hair, ruffling it up even more. He wished his parents were here, they'd know what to do. Unfortunately, they'd moved out after he'd gotten engaged with Sophie, declaring the house theirs. Of course, Grady had different ideas, putting Sophie on a strict 'no-moving-out-until-marriage' rule.
Fitz began to smile at the thought of his future in laws, admiring what amazing parents they'd been to Sophie. Which reminded him of his little problem. The smile flitted off his face, being replaced with a disheartening frown instead. How was he going to tell her? Should he tell her at all?
Suddenly, Sophie's face popped up on his imparter, and he eagerly grabbed it, glad yet worried to see his fiancé.
"Hi Fitz! It's me, uh, Sophie, o-obviously. Could you uh, open the gates? I'm outside of Everglen, and the lights are hurting my eyes.." She stammered nervously, causing chuckle to escape Fitz's lips.
"Who else would it be? And of course, I'll be down right away." He said clearly with a nod, shutting off (Is that what they do with imparters?) his imparter and slipping it into his pants pockets.
He quickly made his way to the front of his parents- no, his home, an uneasy smile on his face. Without a word, he opened the gates, allowing Sophie to finally rush in and tackle him in a hug.
Fitz fell to the ground laughing, his worries clear, for now at least. He wrapped his arms around Sophie, who currently had positioned her head to lay in the crook of his neck, her legs wrapped around his waist, and her arms flung around his neck. Without letting go or pushing her off, he pushed himself up, wobbling slightly at first as he returned to his room.
"I've missed you." He whispered into her ear, lightly poking her sides and making her giggle.
"We were together yesterday! It's only been a few hours since we last saw each other!" She snickered, rolling her eyes playfully.
"Yes, but even that's too long!" He laughed again, but his mood shifted slightly, something that observant Sophie picked up on.
"Are you okay?" She asked him softly, removing her arms from his neck and laying down, moving her head to rest in his lap.
Fitz began to play with her hair, as it was something that calmed and soothed him." Sophie, do you....do you remember your human family?" He asked quietly, already knowing the answer.
Sophie froze, her pink lips parting slightly in surprise. Why would Fitz ask such a random thing? It'd been quite a few decades-or at least, she thought decades- since she'd checked on her old family. She was glad that she'd moved on, but every now ajd then, she'd go sleepless with her childhood memories flooding her dreams.
After an uncomfortable silence, Fitz bit his lip, before continuing." Yeah, well, guess what. They've remembered you too. Their memories have returned, Sophie. And they're demanding that the authorities begin a search."
