I walked through the halls of my doom or as my parents liked to call school books in hand iPod in ears, it waS the start of a brand new year in this place called hell and I knew it would be just as bad as the rest. You see people like to see me as there walking punching bag, I had no friends and I wasn't what they would like to call normal, I was a goth and the populars don't seem to like the people of my persuasion.
I wasn't looking where I was going as I walked face first into the chest of someone sending my books flying.
"Oh god I'm sorry" I uttered bending down to retrieve my stuff.
"It's ok, let me help" he said he had an accent, bending down to my level.
He had long blonde hair with black tips swooped back into a tight bun, he was wearing a ripped black t shirt and ripped grey skinny jeans, he had thick black eyeshadow covering shining brown eyes.
"Hello I'm Riley, you must be new this year" I giggled.
" Hello nice to meet you my names Chris, I just moved here from Germany" he laughed, that would explain the accent.
"Nice to meet you too" I said adjusting my books in my arms looking down nervously.
" Riley you couldn't show me where Mr Davis's chemistry lab is, I've walked these halls for what feels like ages and I'm well and truly lost" Chris sighed
" well you're in luck I'm in that class to, well actually knowing me in this place isn't exactly lucky" I grinned
"Why is that" he questioned
"no one here likes me very much, lets just say I'm the schools outcast, misfit, walking talking punching bag" I groaned.
"Oh I see, don't worry I know what that's like, at my old place I was bullied to." He smiled reassuringly.
"Well anyway we have arrived at our destination..."I said gesturing to the class across the hall. "... You might wanna go in first if you're seen with me you may become one of the victims to, and I would never want that" I sighed.
"I've taken enough punches in the last few years to know I'm not leaving you behind...." He grinned holding his hand out for me to take "... We're better off sticking together, makes us harder to get"
"Yeah but it also makes you a bigger target, first impressions are the important ones" I said refusing his hand.
" well if that's the case, I don't care what anyone thinks, it's your first impression of me that matters" I picked up my hand holding it tightly.
"Well I think you're lovely Chris, to lovely to have to put up with what they're gonna give to you" I uttered sadly.
" I couldn't care less about what they think or even do, allow me to be so bold but as soon as I saw you Riley I knew that I had to do anything in my power to look after you, because you deserve that at the least" and with that he dragged me behind him into the classroom to the sounds of whispers.
"Oh look it's the cutter and it looks like she's found herself a killer friend, Riley is he gonna cut your wrists for you, not that we care but make sure he doesn't kill you like he has others" Jefferson the school dickhead called.
I shot Chris a confusing look, to notice tears welling in his eyes.
"Excuse me" he whispered before dropping my hand and running back out the door.
I turned on my heels and followed him, chasing down his lanky footsteps till he turned a corner and I lost him.
I slowed down to a walk thinking over what Jefferson had said, what he mean by killing like he had before, had he transferred here's to runaway from a evil past. I realised I suddenly cared for a guy I knew nothing about and could quite possibly be a killer.
"I wouldn't hurt anyone you know, and I never have" I heard his quiet barely audible voice behind me. I turned to see him leaning against the wall behind me tears cascading down his cheeks.
" do you mind me asking what did he mean, why did it get you so upset, why did you come here?" I questioned
"Whoa one question at a time, let me explain..." he cried taking seat on the floor "....there was a fire at my old home I was out at the time my mum and dad both were trapped inside, they didn't make it out. I got put with a foster family. I took time out of school and stuff to recover, by the time I went back everyone knew what had happened, and most people seemed to think I caused it, the fire, the rumours got out of control, I even started getting questioned by the police and authorities which only added to the situation, the bullying and tormenting got to much for me to take so I begged the people I was with to do something about it they didn't care as long as they got there cheque every month for having me they couldn't care less about, I tried to stick with it but it was only getting worse and worse by the day, so when the year ended I dropped out. I found I had a very distant relative here in England, so I reached out to them explained everything and they offered me to come live with them on the condition I finished school here and get a job once I've finished to pay rent, I thought it was reasonable considering, turns out it isn't a luxury as I thought it would be, and it seems that the rumours and reputation has followed me" He sighed as fresh tears rolled down his cheeks and a choked sob escaped his lips.
I felt so terrible for him having to go through that and just when he thinks he's got a fresh start it turns out to be not as fresh after all.
" I'm sorry, that's terrible, but don't take any notice of Jefferson and his crew they're a bunch of ass wipes, they don't know what it's like to have someone be horrible to them on a daily basis for their entire lives and if you ever need someone to actually depend on to be there for you to love and care for you then I offer my services" I smiled placing my arm around his shoulders and pulling him closer to me.
" Thank you Riley it nice to have someone who cares" He grinned weakly.
" I promise you Chris one day everything will be okay" I sighed.
