Chapter 25

It was almost 12 AM.

And here I was waiting at the door of my best friend's dorm room biting my lip as hard as I could on what the hell I would say to her.

Not even that how the hell I was going to say the five letter word 'sorry'.

Weeks of me moving on from Ezra eventually turned into two months, yes two whole months and no call, text or even exchanging verbal contacts with each other came to a close.

After I pressed the delete button on my phone outside the auditorium, that was the time I moved on from Ezra and told myself he was just a pass time and somewhat a guy I used to kiss for fun - maybe for him too and this meant no sulking in sweats that grafted my skin or even unwashed hair and messy buns.

But deep down inside I knew a part of me was still yearning for him, instead I blocked that out as much as I could.

I took a deep breath which lasted for about two minutes and took the courage to lightly knock twice on her dorm door unsure if she was still asleep.

Seconds after I did, I nearly ripped the fabric of my leather jacket waiting for the door to open and as soon as it did I stopped my nervous movements.

"Khal I told you to go back- "Courtney's voice called out behind the door and at a sudden she stopped when my face came before her. I smiled nonchalantly and her face didn't light up when she saw me, rather she looked pissed or unbothered at the fact I wasn't who she expected.

"H-Hi." I said giving her a small wave with my hand slowly then dropping It down when her whole body came into present with her hello kitty pajamas as her mouth pressed into a thin line before replying. "Hey."

"Can I come in?" I said and she nodded opening the door wider for me to enter as I walked in chewing my bottom lip awkwardly with the sound of the door shutting behind me.

I glanced at the room on and off as I turned around to face her, folding my arms while she did the vice versa.

We stayed silent for a few seconds until I spoke up "I was gonna call you," I mumbled, ushering myself closer to her, "But I thought what's a sorry through a call, right?" And with those words she looked down with a chuckle.

"So this is a sorry visit?" Courtney squandered while walking to sit on her couch as walked over to her bed folding my legs, both directly next to each other. "Yeah it is, I guess."

Courtney beamed lightly, "Last week- "

"-I was a bitch." I blurted out of the blue and her eyes widened at my reply.

Her expression had crestfallen and turned to me, "That's not true Ar."

"Yes, it is Court. I was such a bitch to you. I let my anger for someone fall on you and when you tried helping me I said things to you that I knew I shouldn't of a-and I'm just so sorry Courtney, so sorry. I let a guy, a-aa stupid guy come between us but I promise you that it won't happen again. Ever. Just please forgive me for being a right cow to you and if you don't then I don't think I'll be able to take another week not talking to you. I need my best friend back." I choked out my words and avoided looking eye to eye and she sauntered closer to me and pressed her palm on mine and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

"Hey, ssh! Your gonna make me start tearing up if you don't shut up. I'm sorry too, Ar. I shouldn't have come onto you like that about that mystery guy in your life but I still don't like him by the way. He made you into a mess last week." She replied with anger in her voice as she brought up Ezra and I smiled thinking now everything between me and her would be alright.

"So can I have my best friend back?" And her lip trembled and we both threw ourselves onto each other, hugging for all it was worth.

"I missed you," I mumbled through her shirt. "You bitch, I missed you more!" As I burst out laughing in return.

"So can I ask you just one question Ar, just one and try not to kill me." She turned to me and exhaled a loud sigh.

"Are you still together with that guy? I mean he is the reason why these past weeks you've been you know..off." I took a deep breath before replying and let out a smile in return, cocking my head to the side.

"He was a guy that I thought would last, but now he's someone that I've just called a-a closed chapter in my life maybe even a time pass"

"Well i'm glad he's gone before I got my hands on him?"

My phone buzzed and hers did the exact same as I glanced at the screen for it to show the time changing to 00:00.

"Happy Birthday, Aria." Courtney squealed and practically threw me off the bed with her jumping on top of me as she gave me another hug.

"You remembered?" My eyes beamed suddenly. "Of course! Your idiot. Would you think I would have forgotten your nineteenth birthday!?" Her voice sauntered towards the very end of her room, coming back with a medium sized box, wrapped in purple paper as she handed it to me in excitement.

"Open it then!"

I sighed happily dropping my shoulders and took apart the wrapping as the present came before me in a blue box as I opened it with my mouth dropping in agape and eyes filled with awe, taking it out the box carefully as I unlocked the baby peach locket with the picture of me and Court at the masquerade ball before we arrived at the event.

"C-Court- "

"Do you like it?"

"I freaking love it!" I jumped running over to her, giving her another embrace.

"So what were you planning for your birthday?" She asked me and immediately the thought of my mom popped into my head and I looked down refusing to remember her or get upset over the image of her face that I was now thinking of.

"I-I wasn't on planning on anything-" I stuttered when her facial expression immediately changed suddenly, leaving me with questions racing through my head

Courtney shrugged with a smirk crossed on her face and tapped my nose.

"Girl, you don't know what we've got planned for you. Oh and did I forget, it's at your place!"

I almost choked at her words and my eyes widened fearing the worst as I grabbed her shoulders to look at me eye to eye. "Courtney! How many people have you invited?!"

"Only about..." She looked up and stretched her fingers out to count, "The whole college!"

Oh boy!

I'm so sorry for the very late update - like I said finals hit me pretty hard this year...

And the next few chapters are gonna be awesomeeee and spilt into maybe three parts considering the big birthday party, hmm Who do you guys think or expect to be there??? 😏😏
