The warm water trickled down my skin, as I just stood there. Thank god that I woke up early and refreshed. I still could not believe that I got the job so easily.
Minutes later, I stepped out of the bathroom already in my undies. I walked over to the bed where I had already laid my clothes out. I chose a black pencil skirt and a baby blue blouse. I dressed, then just applied the basic makeup to my face. Not too much to make my face look like a cake or colouring book, just enough to conceal some flaws on my face.
In the package was basically a letter with the location and time I had to be there; a map of the company's building and a badge.
I placed my stuff in a messenger bag, got my shoes, which were just flats. I hate heels. I hopped downstairs into the kitchen, grabbing an apple and drinking a cup of orange juice before I left.
-minutes later-It took me a little while to find this place. It was in an enclosed area with no other big buildings close by. I looked up to see the building going way up.
I clipped the badge on me before entering the premises. The guard at the gate stopped me, checked my badge and did a quick search in my bag to see if there were any weapons. I have no idea why I would even carry some dangerous weapon on me now. The only thing I had was a pepper spray, which I keep just in case anything bad should happen but somehow the guard did not find that.
After I was seen as no danger, I was led to the building. But seriously why would I be any danger?
Anyway, I just shook my head to brush off the feeling I was having.
We stopped in front of an elevator, "Go all the way up to the tenth floor and you will have further instructions," the guard instructed me.
The elevator door opened and I stepped in, I pressed the button which was marked ten. It was just me, myself and I; alone in this elevator. The elevator door closed and I began my journey up to the tenth floor. I sighed, I seriously need to stop being so dramatic. I should have been an actor instead, I thought.
My thoughts were cut short with the ding of the elevator, signaling that I reached the tenth floor. Wow, that was quick. The doors of the elevator opened and I stepped out.
I was meet with people bustling around with files in hand, I guess this was a busy day or this is how everyday work would be. I hope it's the first thought though.
I spotted a desk with a lady behind, I guess she's the clerk or something. She too was busy, one phone in hand and another to her ear with her mouth moving very quickly. Wow, she really can talk a lot, or maybe that is what the job requires of her.
I walked towards her desk hoping that she can at least get two minutes from her calls to instruct me where to go. Just as she placed the phone that was to her ear down, she put the other one that was in her hand to her ear. She mumbled something into it before putting it down too. She sighed, I guess she was relieved to finally get a break; but her I am to bother her.
My presence at her desk was acknowledged by someone else. A hand was placed on my shoulder causing me to jump, normally I can sense whether someone is behind me or not but my senses failed me this time.
"Miss Willows, right?" that voice, I recognized it, I must have heard it somewhere before. I was about to turn around to see it was who but that person beat me to it. There stood in front of me the same man whom I met at the diner, a smile graced his face, Mr.Tides.
"Yes," I answered him, unsure of what to say next. Since I came here, I was having this feeling that I could not explain and here again that feeling arose.
"Follow me, 'Boss' has been waiting for you," he stated. I nodded and headed off, following him.
We took many turns and finally stopped at the front of a doubled doors.
The door were pushed open, all eyes were on me, I hate attention. One pair of eyes were looking directly at me as I made eye contact.
He was tall, strapping, and scars of unknown stories. Power seemed to radiate off him. I did not know him, and with his intense stare I wish I was not here.
Don't get me wrong it wasn't a glare but his stare was definitely intense.
I switched my attention to the floor, it just suddenly seemed interesting at that moment. The wood look so well polished with carpets covering it like its skin, with little exposure to the well polished floors.
I could feel their stares still directed on me. I shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other.
"Boss, this is Jade Athena Willows, the one I have hired as your new assistant."
