(HOPE YOU READ THE PROLOGUE)
*Beep* *Beep*
I slammed my hands on my alarm clock. I lazily slung my feet off the side of the bed and raised myself up in a sitting position. Stretching my arms out I gave a big yawn to get rid of my tiredness. I rubbed my eyes, slowing opening them to check the time.
13:02
Crap, crap, I over slept. I went to bed just over several hours ago. No, I did not sleep all night, I was helping my mother budget our money to spend for the month. Since I don't work anymore, we had to cut back on certain things; but if I get the job today, then we will be able to have a bit more.
*flashback*
"Hello, is this the company that needs a secretary with good accounting skills?" I asked nervously with my hands shaking a bit, but surprisingly I managed to sound bold.
"Yes," the person on the other side of the phone said with a deep masculine voice.
"Well, I was wondering, has the position has been filled?" I asked wanting to make sure that the vacancy still exists.
"No, would you like to apply?" the person on the other side of the line asked, who I suppose is a man; but I don't know for sure even though the voice is deep and masculine-like because sometimes, very rare, some women sound like that.
I forget that the person was waiting for my reply. "Yes, can you give me the address of the company or something so that I can send my application or something?" I quickly answered.
"No, no, no need, meet me tomorrow at the small diner around fourth avenue. You don't need a resume or an application, I just want to conduct the interview," the person, I will just say man, said.
"Thank you so much, oh what time though," I spoke trying to conceal my excitement.
"Around two o' clock, afternoon time. Don't be late," and the line went dead. How rude!
*End of flashback*
I quickly grabbed my towel, striping off my pajamas as I headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
A couple of minutes later, I stepped out of the bathroom, all dried, lotion-ed up and with undies. I walked straight to my closet pulling out a white skirt that flowed down until it met my knees and a purple dress shirt which did not exactly hug my figure but which was enough to show where my curves were.
I got dressed quickly and made sure to cover the dark circle underneath my eyes with some of my mother's concealer and dab a bit of ChapStick on my lips.
I checked the time, 13:38
Well, I will be able to meet on time thank goodness. After what the man said, well mostly how he said it, I am kind of scared.I grabbed my purse and locked the front door as I existed the house and made sure it was locked before leaving and placing the key in my little purse.
*couple of minutes later*I stood in front of the little diner. Well, the nervousness have not stepped in, as yet. Keyword there 'yet' I just hope it doesn't though.
The diner looked old fashioned and even the paint is starting to peel off from the surface on which it was. The glass window and door looked stained, or maybe that could be the design, I thought to myself. This place needs a serious makeover, not just the design but the whole layout of this diner.
I approached the door of the diner, slowly opened the door and entered. Looking around, I spotted the person who I presume must be the person that I spoke to on the phone. Well, I am one hundred percent sure that this is the person because this place looks almost deserted and it's very old. The other persons here are either with someone or looking like the living dead but this is the only person that seems plausible enough to match the voice from over the phone.
I approached the person at the table, "Umm, are you ...?" I trailed off as I felt my heartbeat quickening and the nervousness creeping in.
The man looked up from his phone, "Am I the person who you spoke to on the phone? It that what you were going to ask?" the man asked the question I wanted to ask, well he put it in different words but yes it is still the same; along with asking a question of his own.
"Well sort of," I answered.
"Take a seat and we shall begin," hr answered putting his phone in his front pocket. I took the seat opposite him. A waiter approached us with a notepad and pen in hand.
"Welcome to Barbara's Diner, what can I get for you?" he was an old man with little specks of grey in his beard.
I looked at the man opposite from me, he looked at the waiter, "I'll get a coffee," he said then turned towards me, "Anything for you?"
"No thanks," I replied.
The waiter nodded and went off somewhere and brought back a coffee in hand a few minutes later.
"Okay, so tell me about yourself," the man spoke up, breaking the silence.
"What would you like to know?" I asked not quite sure of what I should tell him about myself.
"Okay, what is your name? Full name?" He asked.
"Jade Athena Willows."
"Why do you want this job?"
"Well, I just finished high school and I need money to go to college, so if I get this job it will help tremendously with the tuition."
"What do you want to become?"
"A journalist perhaps, but wherever life takes me," I answered but I really wanted to become a journalist.
"Oh, well as required you have good communication skills but what about accounting?" he asked.
I took out my phone from my purse quickly going to the school's website, I handed him the phone with my test scores on display. He took the phone and scrolled through it.
"What job did you do before?"
"I was a waitress," I answered honestly.
"Okay, do you think that you have what of takes to be the secretary of our company?"
"I may not have experience but I can assure you that I will do my best, so yes I do think I have what it takes," I answered confidently.
"You got the job, I like that confidence and fire you have inside of you. Oh and I am Morgo Tides," the man, well Mr. Tides, answered as he stood with his hand stretched out.
"Thank you very much," I replied clearly letting the joy show from my voice.
Phew, I got the job!
I got the job!
Mr. Tides handed me a package, "You will start on Monday," he stated.
