Katherine looked around at all the damaged things in what she had previously called home. From the torn floral curtains to the giant holes they had put in her ceilings as well as the north wall that she now sat near. The aqua blue carpets became a darkened shade of red and brown from the clay that they had tracked inside with their mud and clay covered shoes. She looked over to her left at the government agents who were blocking her path to freedom. She could've easily barbecued them if it weren't for the magically-retraining cuffs they'd placed on her hands. She looked to her right and shifted slightly so she could fully comprehend what was happening. She watched as two of the agents take away the carriers that held her two darling sisters, which her father was getting ready to place inside the car before they came, and watched as they placed them inside of a car nearby. Her father stood up quickly from where they had told him to stay put and try to go after them and save his children. But, he didn't get very far before a nearby agent lifted up his gun and fired three times. Each shot hit in a a different place... The fist two were warning shots didn't realm stop him, hitting him in his arm and then his leg. The last shot fired directly in his head. The last patch of aqua blue carpet that had somehow escaped being touched by any form of dirt was stained by the crimson blood of her fallen father. "Logan!!!" her mother screams from where she stood next to the bookshelf across the room. Panicked Katherine broke her instructions of silence and started questioning the nearest agent who happened to be a young man around her age. "Why are you doing this?" She asks. He looked around quickly before returning her gaze and sighing. "This was not the mission." Was all he got to say before another agent spoke up. She looked around the age of 36 as Katherine's mother was.
"your father knew what the consequences of disobedience was, and so does your mother. Their specific instructions were to turn you over to us when you were ready, but he did not comply." She says looking down at Katherine causing her to look away. Katherine's gaze went directly to her mother who was on her knees reaching into a small box at the bottom of the bookshelf inconspicuously grabbing what she always called 'a defense mechanism'. She stood up quickly gaining the attention of all the agents that surrounded her. "Time to go princess." The young agent said grasping Katherine's arm. She looked over at her mother who gave her a reassuring smile and a nod. "Mom!" She shouted being dragged away "I love you" she said before returning her attention to the people surrounding her.
She was placed in the back seat of the car and forced to move over. "Get us as far away from this house as soon as possible." The agent told the driver after getting into the car. Nodding he sped off. Katherine turned around and looked bad at her house just in time to see it go up in flames. She turns around suddenly grateful of the cuffs that were still around her wrists as she felt her anger swell. Then the feeling of gratitude faded away causing her anger to flare even more as she realized that if it weren't for the cuffs she could have summoned a storm or something that could have helped her mother... In a desperate attempt to subside her anger she looks down at her two sisters who lay sleeping in their carriers next to her. Once her the scorching hot feeling left her chest and returned to the dull gloomy and empty feeling she's felt since she got her powers.
Hours went by and she could feel the boredom building up within her. She looked at the young man who sat next to her and tried to take in all of his features, feeling as though she may need him in the near future.
His dirty blond hair hanging over his mystical green eyes that she found enchanting. He chuckles and glances over at her, his green eyes looking into hers. It was as if he could cast her under a spell by just looking in her direction. It made her have a feeling, a warm feeling that she did not like one bit. She stopped looking at him and turned back to her sisters, one just starting to open her eyes. She took her sister's tiny hand into hers and looked into her eyes trying to read her and see what she wanted before she started to cry. Thankfully her mind reading powers hadn't been completely nullified and she could sense that Jessie wanted her bottle. She reached down into the bag on the floor and grasped the bottle. The agent sat up straighter and grabs her arm. "What are you doing?!" He asks. She rolls her eyes and pulls the bottle out of the bag. "You need to relax" she says pulling her arm out of his grasp and giving the bottle to the baby. "I may not be human, but I'm not a monster who hides weapons in baby bags... You have to trust me on that." "I never said I didn't trust you, Katherine." "Then why am I still in these?" She asks lifting her arms showing the cuffs around her wrists. He stays silent, watching her for another moment before returning his attention to the people outside the car, searching for someone. She sighs heavily and glances behind her, through the window, at all of the destruction on what she used to think was a normal suburban area... She then looks at the agent who was to busy looking out the window to pay attention to what she was doing. She gripped the elastic metal band that was around her wrist and used all of her strength trying to get it off, unsuccessfully she gave in. The agent turns to her and looks into her eyes smiling and pulled it off then proceeded, with ease, to remove the remaining one. Once both were off she sighs in relief as she feels her power surging throughout her entire being. He smiles at her and places them in his pockets. "This is me trusting you." He says looking at the driver who was glaring at him through the rearview mirror. "Do you trust me enough to tell me your name?"
"Keep your eyes on the road, Private."
"Yes sir" he says gripping the steering wheel. "
Do you have a problem... Private?"
"No... Sir, I just don't think it is a valid decision to remove the only control on this girl. She could overthrow-" "that won't happen. Now, unless you want to stop the fucking car and walk to the agency as well as be out of a job once you do get there, I suggest you shut your mouth and drive." He says in an octave so low it sounds like a growl. Remind me to never get on this guy's bad side...
