"Guard," I warned, pushing Sylvia to the side of the hallway we were creeping down. We had been walking only a few short minutes before I heard a big male walking down a nearby hall towards us. I continued walking ahead of Sylvia after hiding her in the drapes, heading towards the intersection where I would take on the guard. As he walked nearer and nearer, I was able to focus in on his thoughts.

Can't get caught again. Will have to make it quick. Last time I nearly got whipped. Heard there was a new girl in there... Mmmmm, I shall be the first to taste...

The guard came to a stop when he saw me after walking around the corner, an eighteen year old girl with knotted dark hair and blood covered mini dress. He didn't hesitate for long before diving at me with all the force of a humungous vampire guard. In case you didn't know, that is a lot of force.

Luckily for me, I was able to anticipate his move and use his weight against him. I quickly whipped to the side and let him fly by me. While he was trying to slow his momentum and turn himself around, I attacked him with my mind. This was my first ever real fight I have fought, and I didn't exactly know what to do. I decided that maybe I would just try shove him over.

That's what you do when you fight someone, right?

Taking a deep breath, I imagine the air in front of me coming together to form a solid substance. Compacted molecules. Quickly, I push forward and will the collected air to fly forward and into his body. To my amazement, the man's hair blew back from his face as he was knocked over by some unseen force. His head hit the polished floor with a thud, and he stopped moving.

It worked!

While he was on the ground, I saw Sylvia run out from behind the drapes. Within a few quick moments she reached us and crouched next to his big head, examining him while I kept a lookout. There was nobody nearby, and hopefully wouldn't be until the next rotation of guard, but who knows when that will be!

We needed to hurry. I thought to Sylvia, communicating silently to her. She nodded her head and took one more quick glance at the guard, eyebrows scrunched. There wasn't a scratch on the man, even tho he had just been physically knocked over. He was nearly 3 times the size of me, and I knew he wasn't going to be staying down unconscious for long. Even as I was thinking this, the guard began to come to. Shaking his head, his eyes focused on me when he turned around.

 He was pissed.

I heard his thoughts of what he was going to do just before he did it. I saw the punch he was planing to throw, aimed for the center of my face, and knew if it made contact with my nose I would be out of commission for the rest of this fight. I moved upwards and to right just milliseconds before the punch would have knocked my lights out. Unfortunately, the blow did land against my left side, crunching into the fragile ribs there. I staggered back, clutching my side as I gasped for breath. The pain fanned with every inhale, and I knew I needed to end this quick before he could take advantage of my physically wounded state. I stood up as tall as I could muster, keeping my right hand pressed across my body against the bones as they screamed in pain with the movement, and held my left hand out towards him. Focusing my power.

Stop.

The man froze, his feet simply refusing to move any further forward towards me. His reached hands were still outstretched  towards me, muscled arms fully extended, clawed fingers open wide towards my throat. He was seconds from getting me, and he was going for the kill.

Put your hands behind your back. I thought, and  smiled at his confusion as he put his hands behind his back without his consent. With him immobile, I took a look at him. He was a vampire obviously, and very strong from the extra helpings of blood from the girls in the Bleeder's room. No wonder they were in such bad condition. He and who know how many other's have been taking more from them than they could handle. I felt anger begin to build up as I remembered the looks in those girl's eyes. The utter lack of life in their limbs. The massive effort it took for them to even breathe and survive. I glared towards the man, an obvious threat in my eyes. He began to resist against the hold I had on him, trying his hardest to open his mouth and call out for help. I was in no condition to knock him unconscious with my fist, so insteadI began digging deep into his brain with my thoughts, pushing in illusions of relaxation and exhaustion.
