I dream a world in which laughter spins like cotton candy,
And a tool set of happiness and empathy is always handy.
Where love is always present and joy is always found,
Where there's enough food and water for us to pass around.
A world in which one is not killed by the mere hatred of another,
But instead each person is treated as a sister or a brother.
Where people show their kindness like a fish shows off its scales,
And females aren't paid any less than their fellow males.
Where race does not divide like an iron fence,
And being born a certain color does not bring an expense.
The religion of a person should not make someone turn his/her head,
People's critical eyes should not make words need not be said.
I dream a world that knows no war and knows no battles,
Where fear is not the driver of humans like herders and their cattles.
A world whose future generations won't have to worry about everything,
But each person of every race, religion, and creed will join hands and sing.
A song of beauty and of right that fills our souls and hearts,
A harmony of the sweetest tunes, the finest of the arts.
Where people's differences don't separate us from one another,
But instead help us build each other.
The people of tomorrow will see us who spinned and danced and twirled,
Of such I dream, my world!
Yes, this is my variation of a poem by Langston Hughes, "I Dream A World". What do you dream your perfect world to be? Perhaps you can write a poem/story/whatever you want to write about the perfect world that you want to leave for future generations! Have fun! :)
